Sounds like a typical K5er. More tires in the bed than on the ground....

Get that little girl wrenching quick. When she gets to be a teenager, you will feel a lot better knowing she is outside swapping an engine than maybe bodily fluids.

But don't do like my idiot cousin. He bought a Blazer that would be junk by K5 standards.
Bad engine, front end, rear end howled after the wood chips wore out, Fiberglas top cracked, and you could track deer through the floorboards.

I showed him everything that was wrong, he bought it anyway.
I helped him patch it enough to hunt on the first year.

But, then he wanted to trade it to a guy for another better truck.

He had a son about 14.
I offered to buy the Blazer for what the other guy would give for it, give it to his son, and then the two of them could rebuilt it from the ground up over the next couple of years.

By the time his son was old enough to drive, he would have a vehicle that was just the way he wanted it, his father would know it was sound and safe to drive, and there would be nothing that could happen to it that his son could not fix.

Later in life, shady repair shops would fear him. Most of the time he would know more about what he might be driving then they would.

The kid was delighted. His father was happy. Mom was even happy.

I shelled out the cash and we parked it in the back yard. Kid would sit in it and make plans.

Didn't think to get the pink slip. He is my cousin and a great guy.......

Two months later, someone came along and made him an offer and he sold it.
Didn't offer me a penny.

Today his son is in the 82and. Damn good at jumping out of airplanes. Managed to do good in Iraq.

Last time he came home, I had to show him where the dipstick was on his truck. and he almost panicked when he saw it was almost a half quart low.

Wanted to know if he had ruined his engine.........

Dammit.

It's going to be pretty tough looking. Are those 48" Michs or 52"? How tall are you making that thing?

lol! If they were 48's or 52's, there's no way 6 of them would fit in the back of the truck. They're about 39" tall. It has worn out 6" springs up front and a big ass block out back. And 35's. I have 8" lift Alcans for the front, 4" lift Alcans and a DIY Shackle flip for the rear. With the tires and springs/shackle flip, it should be 4" or so taller than it is now.

this should turn out pretty cool, what year is the truck again?

It's a '90. See sig.

I see California plates but I don't remember California having that much space lol Where are you? Looks like a good build.

Grass Valley, CA.

What are you planning on using this thing for? Looks like it's going to be pretty sick just by switching out the rubber....

It's just gonna be a "hey look at me and my tiny weener" truck. Just for fun, no real purpose. :D

I thought they were illegal in Cali? I thought I heard something about those truck nuts. I dont know. It is cali for god sakes.

Didn't get much done today, other than painting all the parts that needed painting and going through/sorting everything out. The only pictures I have are of all the parts laid out on the table. I know most of us love lookin at new parts, so here they are-

I'm gonna tackle the king pin rebuild, 35 spline stubs/hubs, XJ shaft and x-over steering tomorrow.

I won't have actual truck nut's...just putting my own spin on the idea. :haha:

Man, I hope you have a real good lock on that door...

I have something planned for the truck nuts thing. Stay tuned. :haha:

Those are some pretty big nuts in that pic, lol.

Holy crap! Those are some huge castle nuts! I didn't see them the first time. Wow!

:pimp::haha:

Gonna be a good build. Why go 35spline for the purpose of the truck?

Shovelbill is right. Good call my friend. Plans are for a 12v sometime next year. :woot:

No way. I've wanted a truck like this for years...now that I have it, and my first "official" build thread, there's no way I'm gonna leave ya'all hangin. This is as much for me as for the rest of you. :)
