At first I wanted to do a Cummins conversion on my K30 too, I even have a 6BT/518/205 ready to go that could go in. But, there is something to say about a smooth running big block. After you get used to the feel of a pickup with a Cummins, then you jump into a truck with a big block, you realize how smooth with zero vibration they are.

Same here. And whos to say a bad ass big block wont make a K30 scoot. And since we all know what most of our trucks are for (caugh caugh compensation:D) a gasser is all good.

Go Joe GO!!!!

Less beer....more photos! :deal:

:usaflag:

Not much to report today. Had to order u-bolts for the rear. Those won't be here till Monday. Probably start tackling the springs and lift stuff then. Should have the new tires mounted by sunday. Gotta get ahold of my buddy for that. Might mess around with the power windows tomorrow. They quit working completely today. :doah:

Joe, are you sticking with the factory square-bend type u-bolts in the rear or doing a plate flip to use round-bend?

It's a good thing my gramps kicked me out of the garage by 9pm tonight, or I would have smashed the shiit out of something on the truck. :angry1::angry1::angry1::angry1::angry1:

I'm still so pissed off I can't really think straight.

I bought new speakers for the dash and new head unit. Parked the truck, installed everything, went to leave and it wouldn't start. Would turn over, but not start. And now, for some reason, it won't even turn over. :flipoff1:

I'm gonna need help from someone familiar with the electrical system in these trucks. I dicked with it for almost 3 hours before gramps made me quit.

I need to drink a few beers and calm down before I try to explain any further.

Ok Joe, now that i've calmed you down call me tomorrow if you need further assistance. :deal:

No problem Joe. So how long will you be home for? I would like to make a trip up there to at least hang out for a day and shoot the **** if nothing else.

I'll be here till around the 22-23rd or so. What days are you free to make the ride up here? Next weekend maybe?

Well, i'm going to the local Good-Guys car show on the 13th so it's doubtful I could make it next weekend.

I will. Thank you Mr. Scott.
Hey Joe, if you haven't solved the problem in the next couple of days, I can swing by.
I am delivering in SLC, UT monday morning and I should be in the bay area on wednesday morning so we'll see if i can swing by tuesday night.

After several phone calls with Scott, it's alive again. Turned out to be the starter solenoid. $48 starter and all is well again. Installed my Odyssey battery and new cables too. Amazing how much happier the starter sounds now. It seems to run smoother too. My old rig was a '76, this TBI/computer stuff is new to me, I'm beginning to see that these TBI trucks really like a healthy electrical system. I have a new 140a power master alternator too...Although I think I ordered the wrong model. The plug is different. Gotta get on the phone with Summit and see about exchanging it.

Thanks again Scott!

No problem Joe. Just a reminder about the higher amp alternator, you must change out the main cable off the back to a larger cable when you up the amp rating. I'm running a 4 gauge battery cable on mine now.

I went back and checked out the summit website to figure out what went wrong with the alternator I ordered. I still come up with the part# that I have. And the one I have is wrong?

The wiring harness on my truck is a two blade terminal style plug, the one on the new alternator is weird lookin, still the same basic rectangle shape, but the terminals are odd. Scott, any insight into this? I have Power Master part #47802.

Almost forgot- taking the truck and the Michelins to be mounted at 0730 in the morning. Should have some pictures tomorrow. I wonder how bad the rubbing is gonna be with worn out 6" springs and 39's?

Should be lookin at installing the Alcans and shackle flip by the middle of the week, weather depending. Its raining like hell here. Rain sucks.

Both look identical. Both are the CS-130 style, same mounting configuration etc. The new one bolts into place just fine. The only visible difference is the plug.

Interesting link by the way. Good reading.

I have some plugs I could take a picture tomorrow. The plugs are at a friend's shop. I have the plugs that should fit the cs 130 and cs130d.
I wonder if your old alternator is such an early model that it is an one year only type deal?
