My stock driveshaft finally pulled apart. I guess 1.5" spline egagement isn't enough..lol :haha:

Holy crap what'd that sound like with the rear shaft banging around? How fast were you going?

That's the front driveshaft, and believe it or not, I didn't notice it till the next day when I came out to go to chow. Lol :doah:

My 42 degree shaft from High Angle should be along any day now.

Zeus got it's first mud bath today....deep enough that I had an inch of water on the floor boards.. :eek1::woot:

Also first carnage- I broke the stock front drive shaft in about 10 minutes. :haha: I have some video and pictures I'll post up later tonight. In the video you can actually see the shaft come apart. :eek1::doah:

So here's the video I was able to get. In HD if you actually go to youtube and watch it.

No one wanted to get out the truck to pull camera duty, so I had to set it on the ground. Only one hub was locked when I went in....as soon as I figured out how to reach the hub through the mud, it pulled right through. Had an inch of water inside the cab on my side. :eek1: Notice the front shaft coming apart right near the end too.

And yes, that was me doing the little happy dance at the end. :haha:

awesome-ness!

I couldn't figure out why you'd only lock one hub to begin with

I certainly didn't do it on purpose, lol! I had stopped and locked the hubs before goin in, but didn't realize that one was already locked. I just reached down and turned them both, didn't pay attention to which direction they turned...lol

Oh, man is that funny. I know exactly how you felt. I've been there. The only difference was that I had a winch.

But the times that I'm thinking about is when the truck stops moving, you look ahead, and you realize you have violated the cardinal rule of driving a 4wd with a winch.......

Always look for something to pull to before going into the hole.

So, I know what you were feeling. Its worse when you have a winch.
You think, well shoot, I'm going to have to get muddy hooking up the winch.
Then you realize you are looking at a flat marsh with no trees or stumps.......

And the hood trick? Forget it. I have pulled it off a couple of times, but my truck is not lifted like yours.

Even so, you have to have something to hold on to, because you have to go past the friction point to reach the hub.
My first time, I kept thinking that just a little bit farther would do it. Then suddenly I realized that I was beginning to slide. I spread my legs out like you, and somehow managed to stop.
It took me almost 5 minutes of pressing my palms flat, and using my stomach muscles like a snake to gradually work back far enough to keep from going head first into the muck.

Then I climbed over the top into the bed and found a piece of rope. Tied it around the passenger's side mirror and used it to let myself down far enough to reach the hub.
Repeat on the other side, and it drove out.

And I would not bitch about the drive-shaft. It did its job. It got you out before it gave.
You can't ask for more than that given the circumstances.
Give it a little pat when you replace it. It went above and beyond.

Darn good video, was that a Flip? And look into a tripod..........I think we got flashed by a bug........

Camera is a Sony DSC-TX9 12.1mp point and shoot that is also capable of 1080p video. Just got it a couple weeks ago. That was the first video I took with it. The file format is kinda weird and hard to work with, but other than that, I like the little thing.

A couple pics from that mud hole yesterday...

Doesn't look like much-

Fun times!

:yikes: That looks like a smelly mess when the carpet starts molding. I would only do that in a beater. To me that would trap moisture and start smelling and even worse, rusting.

Your new dshaft will be awesome, my front 1350CV from HAD is excellent quality.

LOOK at them pine needles. that is definitly GA.

man too bad the hub wasnt locked. that 6 minute video would have only been like 25 seconds. lol

Truck has rubber floor mats and the water is only just lapping at the bottom of the door. I'm not too worried about it. :D

Also not worried about the driveshaft...I worked at HAD for going on a year and half, built a lot of drive shafts during that time. I ran HAD shafts on my old truggy as well...I know it's good stuff. :woot:

Speaking of High Angle Driveline-

Now to hunt down a 1 5/16" socket to swap out the new 1410 yoke on the 60.
