The stock 3.5” exhaust with a deleted cat and deleted muffler would be a great cheap alternative to get rid of restrictive exhaust flow and will not be as loud as a 4” exhaust. It would also help with the egts. After taking the cat off, sell it to a recycling company and it would pay for your exhaust modifications. The LBZ cats are going for about $250 at my work.

Having a tow tune would help with the transmission shifting points so that it does not bog down at lower RPMs and increase egts when down shifting into a lower rpm. The more effort the motor/trans has to make, the less mpg, higher egts and wasted fuel you will get. By adding more power with a trans tune, it will increase your tow mpg because there is less effort and stress and the adjusted shifts will keep that turbo spinning at the correct rpm to keep the power band where you want it.

When I ordered the tune, it asks for tire size. They send me the unit blank, I download the TCM file and send it back to them. Then they create the tune and ship it all back! The tune should calibrate the speedo/tach with the current 265 tires.

That’s probably not good that the front end is higher with the camper on. That means the camper cog is behind the rear axle.

Yeah, obviously its made for a 8' bed, but all I have right now is this truck. It works good as is, but should be much better in the old CCDRW truck. These HD trucks are pretty sweet!

That little bit of raise and only 3" down isn't bad.
Carry as much gear as you can in the back seat instead of the camper and you should be fine for sure.

Im not worried about it at all….no different than a load of whatever in the bed. Rear drop of 2-1/2”.
front is only up 3/8”.

Just put the truck back in service from winter storage this past week, decided to do some upgrades on shocks and exhaust, and one of the batteries was leaking acid over the winter, so two new batteries as well. Chassis lubed, and oil change was done just before storage, and fuel filter shows 65% life left. Air filter only has a couple thousand on it.
thankfully no mice got into it over the winter, but I did catch 6-8 of em in traps set through on the barn.
The shocks are some KYB towing shocks, nothing special there. The batteries are from Blaines farm and fleet 650cca.
The exhaust is MBRP Aluminized w their quietest muffler. 16 ga. Pipes made in USA, but muffler made in china? I painted the hangers and clamps as they were raw steel, gave em a quick wash to get the oily film off, then a quick shot of rattlecan paint. Had to cut a couple inches off the over axle pipe to get it where I wanted it and alot of adjusting to get all the pieces oriented to give the best clearance throughout, and get the tailpipe level. Once I got everything in place, I put a couple stitch welds on each joint to hold them in position. I like the sound really well, I’ll see how it feels on the road on my next road trip.
One thing that came to mind, is there any need for any tuning to be done as this is a complete replacement from the down pipe back. I’m thinking not?

I will be enjoying it today!
seemed a bit livlier, maybe just my hopeful imagination at spending the money to do it. I really think its very close to factory for sound level, although you can hear what sounds like the turbo pushing out more now. Going down the road (no load) is just audible enough to hear it. Felt good to drive it again! Thats the nice thing about storing a vehicle(s), it a new(ish) experience every spring.
