Zip tie organization?

I have a coffee can full of quarters I used to make calls at the phone booth with. When I didn't have a map book in the car and I got lost.
Haven't seen a phone booth in ages! They took ours away in the late 90's. Makes me feel old as h...! Lol

The bag they came in?? I have a wood strip secured to the wall above my work bench. Row of nails in it. I just slice the outer layer of the zip tie baggie and then hook the bag onto one of the nails.

Finally did something. A bit of baseboard, with elastic cord strung through some holes. Actually came out sweet. Wanted something that would self adjust as quantity goes up/down, hence me not containing them with more zip ties.

Probably need to add another row for some smaller ones, but happy none the less.

I have a long peg on my pegboard and I just poke a hole in the bag they come in and slide it down the peg. Every one stays in its own respective bag and I put about 6 bags of 100 on the same peg. Slide off what I want and put the other bags back.

Never in my way, never a mess, and always where they should be. Run out of a size, buy a new bag and poke it over the peg.

I have this odd feeling you’re going to have a mess on your hands one day. All the elastic cords I’ve used stretch and loss their elasticity over time when kept under tension, but maybe it’s just cheap. :dunno:

Entirely possible. We'll see.

I despise pegboards. The hooks always fall off, and I normally want to better utilize wall space. That being said, peg board material would have been perfect for this approach.

A long nail or screw in the wall works good too lol:waytogo:

i like it, but it needs to maintain a "base" amount of ties in it, or they all start falling out I would guess....

and I concur.. ;) I utterly despise pegboard... seriously hate that stuff... you'd NEVER find it in The LAB™.....

Yep. Or i can stuff spacer in, or tighten the cord. I snugged it down pretty good, a pocket or 2 should be able to go empty without dropping the rest. Time will tell.

That looks nice right now but will turn into a pain in the ass. Zip ties falling on the ground every time you open that cabinet.

In the garage, I keep them in bags and they still go loose everywhere. In the mobile toolbox, I squeeze a bundle of zip ties with a zip tie.

We'll see how it does. Infrequent cabinet that holds jack stands and dolly things.

Gravity still works, time to take advantage of it.
Dump the elastic, grab a few lengths of strong cord. Drill two holes about 1/4 inch apart per bundle. Run the cord out from behind the board through one hole, go back through the other.
Tie a knot in the end of the cord at one hole, tie a weight on the other. Bout a pound or so.
Pull the resulting loop out, which raises the weight. Put the ties in the loop, let the weight back down. That cinches the ties up nice and tight.
As you use them, the weight keeps the remaining ones tight.

Wall space is too valuable for me.

My method takes up a 3" wide x 14" tall space on the edge of a doorway and holds 4 sizes of tie....:dunno:. Not much space in an out of the way spot, that's easy to get to... And it would hold more, but I see no practical use in having more than 4 sizes lol.
So no real valuable wall space lost.:waytogo:

I like this idea, basically what i did with an added counter weight. Will try it out once the elastic wears out...but thinking i'm good for a while.
