Overview
This was sitting in the back at a huge swap meet in Springfield Missouri. It had the right look, it had a the frame shortened already. The only thing wrong with it was everything else.
The suspension is currently extremely suspicious leaf springs, the engine was gone, the inside was rough. But I saw it as a perfect foundation for the linked crew cab I have been wanting to build.
The rear blocks on this were unlike anything I've ever seen, truly some redneck hackery.
Captian chairs were the selling point.
This is why you stockpile good parts, well hopefully good. We have a 350, (flat top pistons with a little cam) and a hard to kill sm465 with the NP 205 I assume
One day i decided it was time to throw in the engine and trans, Using what I had laying around. All the factory engine mounts and cross memembers was gone when I got the truck. But I never had any issues with boxing in the frame. Makes for very easy mounting of any engine.
Because I procrastination like crazy I never ordered proper weld in engine mounts. But I did have leaf spring shackles for something. (Found them at a shop for free) they looked just like the weld in mounts on summit
The engine is mounted quite low, and as far back as I could. Probably farther than it should. But with engine and trans in, it's onto driveshafts, then tear out all the leaf springs and get busy with links. Unfortunately so many other projects and trucks decided to break down and take away my attention. Not to mention my bank account is not very excited for the purchase of steel these days. Will update as I can!!
