‘06 F-150

Well, we decided we’ll have to pull the engine whether we fix it or replace it, so it’s out.
Did I mention I hate fords?…

Cool, thank you. We pulled the head and piston from the dead cylinder and I expected to see worse from zero compression. The piston is galled and the cylinder is not happy but I expected to see a hole in it or something. Not even sure what caused it. Maybe clogged injector making it run lean? I dont know.

They did have an injector tsb at one point. I am not sure if it was the 5.4 or both engines. I had a 5.4 with an injector that stuck open and just poured white smoke from all the gas going through the cat.

That doesn't look too bad, especially no compression :dunno:

Those rings look collapsed AF. How did the cylinder fair to the scuffage?
The rings were definitely stuck. The cylinder isn’t the best, but I think we’re going to dingleberry hone it and piston slap it. The bearings look good and it ran fine for a 7 cylinder. With parts and gaskets I think we’ll be in it around 500 bucks.
Obviously we’ll get the injectors cleaned and tested too.

I welcome and appreciate any input from you guys!

@fastabeat me to it......l86 and smoke em.

You might could score a running 5.4L for $500 to swap in instead. Probably just need to swap the pcm but I'm not sure. I've got '06 f150s at work that are set up both ways.
