Restomod build for a late friend
I suspect that the eccentric is not on the end of the cam, but I have not checked to see that yet…definitely has the pushrod hole though.
Timing set done and cover put on tonight.
Next on the list is cleaning oil pan and all the accessories up. They are horribly greasy.

Painted the balancer a bright color to help with timing visibility. Installed the balancer, but need to buy a new pulley as the original one is bent.
Then moved the patient on to the operating table.

While you have the engine on the stand, verify your tdc mark on the balancer hasn’t spun.
Lots of cleaning and wire brush. A few more brackets done and painted. Only 2 more left.
Large accessory brackets painted and tossed on.
Going to have to clearance to vortec carb intake just a bit.

Clearanced the A/C bracket and did a final clean and install of the intake gaskets.
Only a couple more things left, and I can stab this vortec and start running new fuel lines for the Edelbrock pump and regulator.

FYI Greg-they make allen head pipe plugs. Could've got a little more room with one of those.
I looked, and couldn’t find any locally.
Waiting on a water pump and some small other odds and ends, but is close to ready.
The ‘78 is at the exhaust shop. Father in law borrowed the Duramax Monday. This all I have left to drive lol. Everyone say a prayer that it gets me to work tomorrow

But for real, this thing sounds so good, but it smokes so bad and fouls plugs like crazy.
Plans did get changed a bit, and I’m probably not going to tear this down until next month.
