Thanks for all the killer pics... I watched the slideshow on youtube and had seen you next to the V-Dub. Place looks awesome... I noticed that you and a crew are going in April! wish I could make it, but I wont be free until august-Sept. for that kinda road trip. Maybe something else will come up around that time. How far is it from dove springs?
Thanks again for the pics.

I don't know where dove springs is. You can look up Truckhaven, CA on googlemaps. 3 Options came up for Dove Springs, CA.
It's either 30 or 70 miles.
Sept, August would be very hot out there.

Can someone school me on a few things about CK5?

A) How do I remove my poll?
2) What is the proper way to upload a video? Do I need to put it on Utube 1st?

Your pictures make me want to go to the desert. Even though I hate hot weather. Must be nice to have all that public land out there. I thought I remembered reading something that said they had to move TDS to somewhere else because of environmental pressures or something. Maybe I have it mixed up with something else.

tds is held in Ocotillo Wells which I believe is Imperial county. Imperial county is cool with off roading cus its such a big part of there economy with glamis being out there and Imperial Dunes. In riverside county, off roading is BANNED. Riverside county is right next to Imperial.

It is not too hot out there during "desert season" which is from Halloween to Easter. After Easter it is too hot to have fun.
TDS was relocated about 3 miles (across desert) or 7 miles (down the road) from where it was always held it. There is a neighborhood that developed down there. You can still drive in & off road; you just can't hold any major public events. Some of the land was sold back to the state or something like that and there are signs posted that tell you do not enter.

Ive been there(dove springs) before, its a few miles out of Jawbone. I was trying to get an idea how far from there it was.

I'm sorry I don't know where Dove Springs or Jawbone is located.
If you search around on this link :http://www.tds4x4.com/
You can get the exact location of the 4x4 training center aka the obstacle coarse.
Roughly the area we are talking about is on the west side of the Salton Sea on hwy S22 a few miles west hwy 86. Type in "Truckhaven, CA" on the Gmap to see it too.

If you could see the top of this you would understand why I didn't go for it.
I need to regear before I climb up this one. I was checking to see if my carb would stall out. It didn't. BTW this is the small hill, I did the same thing on a MUCH steeper hill right next to this one.

ahh! did you have a different one on before? If so, any noticeable difference in performance?? I only ask because I have a 1406 right now... but got it cheap and ended up just rebuilding it till I save up the coin for the thunder series and just wanted to know how you liked it :)

I had a 4barrell Holly on it before. It ran great on the street but when I took it on it's first difficult trail (bronco peak at Corral canyon), it stalled out on the inclines.
I noticed a big difference in performance when I put it on. It has easy adjustments for tuning and extreme altitude differences. I live at sea level, so If I go up to the mountains to hit a trail, they say to adjust it 1 stage (leaner or richer:dunno:) per every 1000 ft in elevation.
The idea is that I can get out at the trailhead & turn a knob real quick to get the ideal conditions.
They also say the carb will not stall out for up to 47* steep incline. I'll tell you I have been way steeper then 47* in my times playing in the hills and I haven't stalled out unless I do something stoopid. It could be my driving style too, I tend to keep my foot heavy on the gas even while breaking at the same time, while I am climbing up & over stuff.
On the flat straight away it hauls azz.
:deal:I'm not sponsored by this product, but I proudly display it's sticker on my rig based on my personal experience.

I would imagine that you would need to richen the carb the higher you go in elevation since most carbs start to run leaner the higher up you go.
