I took Ryokens advise and fished around the marina to find some soft top parts. I finally got the snaps mounted.

I'm at the airport in Huston heading down to Mexico for the wedding. I Will be off the grid for A few weeks.

I'm back.

I ordered a Detroit locker for the 13 bolt and cut off the shock tabs.

I still need a set of 15" rims, and I'm also thinking about the DIY4X flip & switch.

...and shopping for a good welder.

I'm thinking a mig. It need to be able to run off 125v. My buddy has a Hobart that uses flux core or gas. It lays a nice bead.

Open discussion here. What's you favorite welder and why?

I've heard several guys on this forum saying that they like the 125 VAC MIG machines, especailly the Hobarts, but I haven't had much luck with them on 1/4" steel. Disclaimer: I CAN'T WELD. I remember one time Stomis was bragging about his, so I asked him what kind it was. Of course now I can't remember what he said but I think it was a Hobart something.

My favorite is the good old 220 volt Lincoln buzz box that weighs over 100 lbs. That thing is great for guys like me who can't weld worth a :poo:. Yes that's a pile of doo doo. That welder is not portable at all though. Plus not everyone has a 220 volt outlet at their house that's readily accessible. So if taking it around to your buddies' places is in the cards, the buzz box is out of the hunt.

A while back I saw where Lincoln had a big sale on a lot of their welders but I think it's over now. Check their website. Also I think they have a welding forum on CK5. You could start a thread over there.

I'm leaning towards to Hobart because I've used them and know it will work good for me.
I borrowed a Lincoln before and it was not as good as the HB. It was a temperamental one, you had to keep the lead chord pretty much straight or it would slow the wire speed. It tended to go through a lot more tips too, and no matter how well I prepped the surface the welds always looked contaminated.

I got the Detroit for the 13 bolt. :woot:

Now I'm thinking about inboarding the rear shocks...

Well I tore into my diff just to find out that it has some weird limited slip and has 3 pins and not 4.

It all fell apart when I opened the case and I don't know how to reassemble it.

I guess it's time for a research break.

anybody seen one of these before?
