‘82 GMC “Junkyard JIMMY” {Build bash Rebuild}

image.jpg

I got the tail gate, pass side and hood.

It's not really supposed to look like a diamond back but I'll take the compliment.

It's easy to patch repair. Come on, you know I'm going to scuff it up.

Step 1- paint sand color
Step 2- paint Olive Drab/doo doo brow horizontally
Step 3- add sand drifts and haze
Step 4 - paint flat black diagonally

What's your thoughts on rattle can clear coat?

Yay or Nay?

Closer shot on the hood.

It totally messes with the eyes. From a distance it looks like a satellite image but up close it's kind of diamondback.

You want to fly over here and paint my truck up like that? It's starting to rust on the passenger side A pillar from my 2011 flat black Rustoleum job.

Step 1
After the base color is set I line up my tool box drawer liner with the body line and spray an Olive Drab and Doo doo brown pattern.
After I sprayed the pattern a few times it becomes easy to just follow and repeat.

Step 2 move the screen to another location and you see what's left behind. It's easy to match the pattern or change it.

Step 3 move the screen and keep parallel to the body line. The pattern works itself out.

Step 4 I put a sandy haze over the spots and between adding a line in the sand here and there to look like a dunes edge from a distance.

Step 5 I laid a different screen at a diagonal to the body line and sprayed it flat black.

After this step I sprayed another light sandy haze and walked away from it.

That's brilliant but be honest here - KIRKER the dog actually came up with this idea didn't he? I can see it on his face. He's like "hey I thought this up but I can't post it on CK5 because I don't have thumbs, and this Paul guy is taking all the credit. Woof."

Paul.... Toolbox liner was my "trade secret", for making a Lizard Skin Print,
Back when I ceramacoated guns. :D

Its gonna look GREAT!!!!

I got it all wrapped up yesterday. I fixed my CB cable too.:D

In preparation for the upcoming desert safari I need to bleed and change my hydro assist fluid, and fix an exhaust hanger.

I'm thinking about putting my tranny cooler back on. IIrC my buddy advised me not to run it thru my radiator but I did anyway.
I have a feeling that the radiator is actually heating the fluid rather than cooling it.
I should post up some invisible " where's JIMMY" shots soon.

You're gonna be a major hit at TDS. Don't be surprised if you get multiple requests to spray other people's rides once they see your new scheme.

Ha! I doubt it. They won't notice me. I'll be invisible. :D

It's not like it's Ryoken quality finish work. Some of my trail dings are 5-6" deep.
There's pink and purple paint on the doors with 1/4" thick impact resistant bondo on it.

Which BTW was proven to be impact resistant when my buddy Wick was following me and drove into my Passenger side door.

That being said if anybody wants me to drink all their beer, eat all their food and hang out for I few days I'd be glad to come visit and rattle a few cans.

Just buy the ticket and I'll be there.

I heard nothing about paying for gas. So I'll buy the food beer and paint. When can you be here
