Good news.

Intake was a 4brl. So @beags86 was right, which is good.

Got the carb on the intake and fuel hooked up. Still need to figure out what ports go where.

What port is what @Bent77 ? Or mainly, what port is vacuum advance?

And I took the broken bug shield off. Looks so much better. I’m also glad to see the hood is in good shape.

Plan is to get it running good on the q-jet then move it up to the driveway for gas tank replacement. Once that’s good to go I’ll drive it to the car wash and spray down the engine bay to get rid of the rat poop and clean the truck.
 
I think the upper is dizzy

The egr is the lower left. Just plug it and the lower right

Yeah eventually it would get some exhaust.

Ya know, I needed a project like this. The efi on the K5 has me 100% burnt out. And chasing some odd wiring issue that makes the diesel throw pump codes has me not wanting to mess with it either. So getting back to basics with a carb is super refreshing.

The wife even noticed how well it idles and runs. (I think she might even like it :censored:)

Just remember that 7.4 or big block day. Is also Independence day. Because hell yeah brother. 'MERICA!

You know what?! I had to use the diesel to jump the battery, so there I used it on 6.5 day. And I will now cross post this.
 
Took a full lap around the block tonight. Fires right up on the first crank. It runs so smooth it should be a sin. As soon as painters get finished on my house, this is going in the driveway for the gas tank replacement. Pops informed me tonight that he has a full set of rallies with caps, rings, and tires at his house that I can have. So I’ll be picking those up this weekend and throwing them on. Might stick with those, but not 100% sure still. But free will have to do for now.

You know more and more I kinda want to see your pops yard. There has been more than once when some shit has come outta the bushes over there and been pretty sweet.
 
Throw a flatbed on it and drive it. Oh and some 32/11.50s. Oh and I remembered earlier that way back in the high school days my buddy had a stock car and I think they used to all have to run that 2 barrel motocraft carb. My brother in law the Ford guy says it's basically a 500 cfm Holley carb.
