‘89 K5 Project Negotiating

Prices will naturally go up a little starting the spring. Vehicles always sell more in the spring/summer.

Did a little price checking this morning when I got in the office. Looks like about $40 per side for the floor patch panels and the 2 floor support/braces. Also going to be in the market for a decent "good" welder, as I want to do this on my own. So I'm all ears as to what is a cost effective route to go...:ears:

I broke out my 140 Hobart today. This is single pass, full penetration on 1/4" steel. I'm no where near a professional welder but this machine does a great job for the size. 0.035 Mig wire, machine turned wide open with mixed shielding gas.

Nothing like seeing a real weld to show the capability these little welders have. The only serious limitation these little migs have is their very low duty cycle.

Are you running your machine on a 20 Amp circuit?

I am but it's the only thing on the circuit. However, It is going through a 50ft commercial extension cord. I use this little welder ALL THE TIME on a 5k generator. That's basically why I bought it. I can take it anywhere.

I have the same welder, and that's the only one I have ever used. I've run quite a bit of wire through it and I love it.

I got a 140 Lincoln off Craigslist. Was brand new still in home Depot box. I knew something was up. I didn't check to see if it works. That's because more than once home Depot has done me wrong. This just gave me an opertunity to "return" the favor. So I have a brand new Lincoln 140. I have floor pans, kick panels, rockers to replace in a '77 I haven't had time to get to yet. Haven't set it up with gas yet. Never did sheet metal before either but I think it would be a fun rewarding experience. I've hung out with welders enough to give me some confidence. Just alternate you tac welds like you tighten a flange down.
