So if anyone plans to take on some paint stripping/rust removal @83ChevyK5Blazer i would highly recommend picking up one of these.

https://www.eastwood.com/4-1-2in-cleaning-stripping-disc-system.html

The black disc makes easy work of paint and primer, rust takes a little more time but it’ll get it.

I probably just had cheap sandpaper but I went through about 3 sheets of 80 grit on the DA and probably didn’t even get a 1/3 of the roof done.

Not if you get a couple of those strip discs. I’m sure you have a grinder. Make sure you get some extra black disc.

After using the aircraft stripper and then getting the remainder with the strip disc I have used 3 disc and countless sheets of sandpaper on touch up stuff.

Here is the progression of the roof. First pic is our starting point. Second was after 2 passes with the strip disk and Ospho, let it set. Third pic was after a pass with 80grit on the DA. From here I covered it with rust encapsulator and I’ll give it one more pass with 180 grit before covering with primer.

I just finished prep today.

Or that could also be read, I have done all I am going to do.

Tomorrow I will start cleaning and taping, I’m assuming that will take the better part of a day so I may just hold off till Wednesday to spray. Once I start that it shouldn’t take but a day or 2

Picking up paint!

Hoping to get everything taped off and organized today so I can just start spraying tomorrow. Epoxy has 30min flash time between coats, Im assuming base and clear are 30-60 min also. If I start first thing in the AM I think I can get it all done. 6-7 rounds

Nice! We'll need to have another m&g soon and line our trucks up for you to paint.

As long as y’all do all the prep! Holy crap am I tired of sanding!

But I think I did go above and beyond what was needed. My expectations are much lower now :haha:

We'll be looking for a post with good details, tips & tricks.

Tip 2: don’t place your beer or beverage of choice inside the cab while taping up door jambs.

No big deal man, it’ll still be there when you get done. Just ignore the painty wang.
