Keep it clean, yes. Detailing to me means spending hours on it.

Yeah, I've thought about using those steps too until I saw what they cost. I'm sure they are great, that's just a big pill to swallow.

Can you not just find some random RV sitting in the junkyard and grab one of those retracting steps?
If not, I do know a guy who does metal work. He could probably make a set. He even works on trucks from time to time...

Looks like you've got quite a bit of payload and tow capacity on that thing. Been looking at tow vehicle replacement for a while. Thanks for sharing that.
Building a bumper and hitch. I must over build/think everything. I am under this thing with the bumper pulled and spare tire out. Cut out the mickey mouse'd wiring for the old bumper. If these guys do beds for a living, somebody is getting screwed.

Any time I buy a pickup with a hitch, I figure I'm gonna be redoing the tail light wiring.

I got lucky when I removed the cobbled together trailer input on the hitch. The one and only smart thing the PO did was run the wires to the fuse block in the engine bay. No splicing or cutting anything.
