1951 Willys wagon - Dads toy It Runs and Drives now !!!

Nice clean design. Good job! :thumb:

love it, love it, love it

Thanks guys  , I'm happy with how the exhaust worked out, that was my first attempt at a full system with a y pipe, but it all came together nicely.....now I can't wait to hear it :waytogo:

I have a few things to do inside then I'm going to spray it all with AL's HNR (heat and noise reducer) then a coat of bed liner and maybe some type of carpet in the front half, the "bed" area will be bedlinered with the original wood slats in the groves of the floor. Dad made interior side panels for it covered in grey leather or maybe it's "pleather" :haha:

dam Josh, all is looking good man!
Nice design and execution of the bumper and hitch!

Thanks Dave :waytogo:..........
and speaking of the bumper......I made some more progress :D

Starting the swing out carrier, I used Kerts spindle hub and the rest is my design

I'm waiting on the latch I ordered and have some more to do but the bumper is almost there.

That will look good!

I don`t know if you will have one but the tire carrier is a good place to mount a CB antenna.

looking good Josh, how tall is that gate anyway?
and nice idea Dean...I was reading the higher the better for the antenna?

Thanks :waytogo:

Don't know if he has any desire for a CB :dunno:....more then likely I'm going to add in a removable fishing rod carrier on the driver side (one that will hold 3 or 4 surf rods vertically) or maybe a small cooler and 2 rod set up...not sure yet.

Next step is finish up any and all metal work on the interior so I can get ready to spray sound deadener then primer etc.

Actually...that is the only thing I don't like about the wagons is how tall the end gate is...looks funny to me. :dunno:

With the tire carrier built is will look awesome! :thumb:

Thanks :waytogo:

The tailgates are huge on these things....I've never thrown a tape on it, but its got to be close to 28-30" tall, when its down...good luck reaching anything that isn't right in the back :haha:

While it is true the tailgate is huge, it's a great place to sit and eat your lunch while out wheeling.

Made some more progress :D

I never noticed before that the stock radiator was offset :doah: so of course the new one was not going to fit right .

So a little creative thinking, some drilling of 60+ year old spot welds, some bending and hammering and a bit of welding led to a solution :D

Made these from some aluminum angle and used some 5/16 nutserts

Now it fits :woot:
