1951 Willys wagon - Dads toy It Runs and Drives now !!!

Thank you :D:D

I'm loving the new place, looks totally different now....seems to have gotten smaller already :doah: :haha:

I've got a Painless wiring harness for it that I'm going to start on and getting a plan together for an aftermarket AC set up....in all reality I hope to have this thing wrapped up this winter and work out any bugs so I can deliver it to my dad down in North Carolina by early spring.......that's my goal anyway :waytogo:

Awesome plan. Dad's gonna trip!

very cool Josh, coming together real nice!!!

Come on ! You know I live by the Rubicon. From what I've heard, these wagons play nice together in the dirt ! LOL !

Just one more for the great job man. Always loved the willys wagon thought I have had a couple over the years but never works out.

Round here they think they are worth about 3k for one that barely runs and drives 2k is the cheapest I have found one and it didn't have a motor and was way rusty.

Kind of why I quit looking.

Really looking forward to seeing it all done up

What happened to the one you had in your back yard at the old place Eric?
I know you said it wasn`t yours but...what is it doing now?

Just before I got married 20 years ago I had a chance to buy 2 of them for 1200.00 One ran and was in nice shape...the other was complete but was for parts. I wish I would have picked them up. :doah:

My dad had a 62 that he put a
327 in when I was a kid. I have always wanted one since! :thumb:

That thing is looking amazing, and loving the new shop too.

I remember on the old property we had here in Fieldon, (say 91-92 or so, before I was born) There was a bunch of stuff that came with that 80 acres, including one of these old Willy's wagons sitting on the frame of a 4wd half ton Chevy, they plowed snow with it, pulled hay wagons, and occasionally a gravity wagon.

My mom even drove it on a couple of occasions, when he Buick was down for the count and it was the Willys, the "Bus" (77 Crewcab K30) or the C30 Dump truck, both of those Chevy's were manuals so she drove the jeep for about a week, I remember my sister telling me about having to ride in that "loud, smelly, POS", she absolutely hated it. :D

Sooo...its been awhile...but we are in high gear and Dad WILL be cruising this thing this spring!!

He stepped up and opened his wallet and the carb has gone bye bye in favor of an AFI TBI kit :D, hope to have it here next week.

On to a few pics.....

More to come soon

That will be so nice without the carb. :thumb:

Totally agree ! That was a big selling point for him (and mom, since she will be riding in it too) plus with the AC (which I forgot to take pics of) it will bump the idle, and since we already have a VSS 241 it will control convertor lock up also.

Of course if I had my way it would have a 4BT or a 5.3 in it :D

Did you see the totally stock one that Road kill posted up with the 4.8 in it?

That was cool! But yours will be WAY better! :waytogo:

I didn't see that, I'll have to look. Funny you say it, I just came across a deal on a complete 4.8 (and couldn't say no) and was thinking how cool it would be in a 2wd wagon with some boost

and thank you for the compliments :waytogo:

Truck looks amazing. I just finished the frame bracket welding on mine today and sent the frame to the sandblaster. It will be a loooong time till mine is anywhere near as complete as yours but you sure have provided some great inspiration.

Thanks :waytogo: we hope to keep rolling on this thing and keep knocking things out. Wiring is coming along good, brakes will be wrapped up as soon as a few parts arrive, the AFI kits are pretty simple....first drive day is coming :woot:
