Soo....last Thursday afternoon I went to start it...checked over everything I could think of, primed the fuel system, hit the key and it immediately lit off...I shut it down right away just to double check things and was greater with about 2 quarts of oil on the floor!! Right away I noticed the filter looked loose and then saw the seal was pushed out. I figured it must have been loose. I ran to the parts store and grabbed a fresh filter and a few more quarts of oil, checked everything again, fired it up and about 10 seconds or so later heard a loud pop. I shut it down again and found about 3 quarts on the floor and the seal blown out on the filter again...and this time the filter was ballooned out as well.
Turns out the pressure relief spring was stuck in the oil pump....boy am I glad I made the engine crossmember removable! !!! If not, I would have had to pull the engine...dropped the y pipe, crossmember and pan, put a fresh pump in and it's good to go now!
The affordable fuel injection kit is once again top notch...this thing runs excellent!!
We took it out last night for a while, hit a local jeep club meet and great and then just cruised around.....put about 40-45 miles on it.
I am really amazed how well this thing runs and drives....steers, brakes, handles awesome...no rattles or weird squeaks, plenty of power, sounds absolutely bad ass and for some reason it gets a ton of looks
There's a few adjustments that need to be done but overall it's incredible !!!!
The game plan is to have it dialed in and give it back to dad within the next 2-3 weeks.....can't wait to see him drive it for the first time! !!!
Took it to a local Jeep club meet and greet last week..
and it made its debut at the PA All Breeds Jeep show on York PA today!!! Everyone that saw it absolutely loved it and even had a few comments that it was the nicest rig there ....hoping that I get to give it back to dad complete with a trophy or two
So I guess the "end" is really in sight now.....the plan is to give back to dad in the next few weeks...I still have some little things to finish and some adjustments to make. It's going to be weird....not having it around anymore....hmm...maybe I'll start working on the Cummins K5 again
