1968 c30 "Papa Smurf" prerunner build. links, beams, and turbo

I like the fleet side look best, the lines flow much better.
Nate do you know your induction system yet to go with that turbo setup?

Not sure i understand the question? The induction would be forced induction via turbo? Plan is turbo. Stock truck intake. Injectors. Arp head studs. Mls gaskets. Valve springs. Pushrods. Cam. Forged rods and pistons.

Hoping to pull motor out this weekend and get it to the machine shop in the next week or so where im having them clean block and heads. Deck if needed. Balance assembly. All new bearings hopefully cylinders look fine and just hone them.

IMG_0118.PNG I wonder if one of those big UMP filter housings would fit with your turbos.. give ya lots of filter area to keep the sand out. They kinda look like an industrial filter inside. Maybe that's what he's asking bout??

So yeah I knew a turbo, but not intake, injectors, intercooler, wastegate and EFI controller?
So basically the GM stuff

Any reason to run the stock truck intake? Plenty of cheap alternatives that will net you way better results especially going turbo.

Actually im putting the turbo inside the cab above trans and then will be hidden with dash. Center console and paneling but if i have enough space i would love to get one of those filters in there. Silt and fine sand can really cause havoc in the long run.

Okay. Yah. I forgot i do have an intercooler already. And will be running blow of valve. Waste gate. Boost controller. And its getting dyno tuned using the stock gm computer and i believe a map sensor if im remembering what the tuner told me. Idk much other then turbo ls motor makes Papa smurf go Braaaap

Thems fightin words! :draw:
Okay let me rephrase. I dont care for step sides besides Glens and Woogs stepsides haha idk i just dont think stepside fit me.

Actually false. I believe it was motor trend did a flow test on ls intakes and the truck intake held its own against much more expensive "cool" looking intakes ranging $500-$800. For my needs the truck intake will more then sufice. It will hold the boost levels im looking at running and it will flow plenty to make the power i want to be in...im gonna try to find that study and post link

Yes you are correct, I should have said it differently. Our messenger convo is better then these posts.

It's up a little bit, but the ump filter don't flow enough for boost.

Have friends with big cubic inch lsx's under boost in their racers and they run ford diesel filters. I built him a cage for it at the end of the tube filter slides over until the bottom of the element is supported as his was sucking the filter down.

But it was a 58k motor, with a pair of ceramic ball bearing Garret's.

That's good to know, I never checked but do they list the cfm capacity of the filter on their site?

Thanks for the info. Im going to be mounting the intake in the cab in a contained space under the dash anyways so that with a good filter should suffice hopefully.

I'm not sure it's just been something I've learned after years of playin in the sand and desert. I ran one on my class 1 but it was a n/a ls with just a cam and valve springs.

Had to take a break from the truck for a bit to get the shop ready for winter. I spent last year working in uninsulated and unheated shop, and there is no way im doing that again. So bit the bullet and bought insulation for the shop. Hoping to have it all by the weekend so i can resume work on the truck next week.

Had to move the truck over to the other side of the shop tonight so i can finish up the ceiling. Then onto the walls.

Boss gave me green light to use shop whenever i want a while back so today took advantage of it. First of manyyyy more machined parts for papa smurf.

Hey Nate it looks like you didn't leave enough room for the bubbles, and without them those levels are worthless. But they do look nice! ;)
