Eventually that is my goal. But I can tell you she will be naked this summer for sure. I'd like to try and finish things like that this winter when I have more time.
Got there for tuning and cam sensor was not reading. Tried new sensor still nothing. So tore intake off to look at cam come to find out the shop I ordered the cam thru either ordered me the wrong cam or lied to me as I made very clear to them it was for an 02 4.8 with rear pick up.......well the cam In my motor is not for a rear sensor motor... should have paid attention when I put the thing togethor but I didn't even think about it because I assumed it was right. And that's why you don't assume things..
So we tried converting my motor to the front style sensor with an ls2 timing cover. Problem is this cam also only has the large single bolt for the timing gear not the 3 like pretty much every other cam and aftermarket runs. So went to parts store and only cam gear they had that was a 1x and not a 4x that all newer ls engines use was for a 05 gto. So bought that and took back to tuners shop and I machined the hub out to fit my cam and also drilled a hole for the single bolt as it was a 3 bolt gear. So got that all done and on. We put it all back togethor and at this point It was 3am I believe and we had worked on my truck for 12 hours at this point. Fired it up and still throwing cam sensor code. So we dug around his shop for another sensor and found one. So I started pulling my sensor to change it out and when I pulled it I noticed the boss for the pickup was way over to the right and not in line with the sensor.
FYI guys GTO s use different timing covers than truck motors and the cam gears although are the same teeth count the pick up is farther out on the gear. Which means the timing cover for a gto has the sensor 5/8 over more then the truck covers.
So trucks back togethor for now. Ordered a gto timing cover and once that shows up I'll see what else doesn't fit or work anymore.
I know your frustration Nate, I lived it with my trans the first (second and third) time it was put together. tearing that T400 out with a doubler in the way sucked, but I got it down pretty good!
Hang tough and persevere brother!
