Careful using cinder block under jack stands. I had some disintegrate on me before. :eek1: Luckily I wasn't under the truck when it happened, but it was scary as hell.

Especially in that orientation! Should flip it 90
degrees so the hollow part is vertical. Then put some plywood on top so it's not point loaded on an edge.

I've seen guys fill the block with quickrete and then tap on plywood down to the top for the stands to bite into. When I did it I just cut a couple of 4x4s down and used it as cribbing to build a stand off high enough.

Wow I've never even considered the fact they could give out. Used them many many times and never had a problem. I'll flip it and throw a piece of plywood on top of it. Thanks guys

No worries man. Obviously I did it a bunch too, until it failed. Afterwards I found out it is common. I think the plywood will solve the problem. :waytogo:

Brought home a set of axles tonight.
Corporate 14 Bolt Full Floater rear. All set up for disc brakes 4:10 open differential. Will be installing a spool or welding the spiders up

There in the backround you can see the front axle also.

Not much of an update but finished assembling the rear disc set up. Would love to find a Detroit locker for this 14 bolt. Have a spare carrier with 4:10s on it also. May try welding those spiders up for the time being

Anybody recall which conversion U-joints ill need for driveshafts?

Also I have to move both rear shock mounts on axle? Leave them in factory placement or on top of tube?

Well been messing with cleaning up the front axle, pulled hubs, blasted brackets and a few parts, finished with some black paint, and finally putting new calipers on. I'll post pictures once it's all together.

Was working on installing the Detroit in the Dana 60. Swapped the ring gear, bearings, shims and everything to the Detroit. Attempted install and seems like it's not going to fit. I have the wrong Detroit???..... I have 4:10s, part numbers on the locker are engraved 22A which is a part of the 225SL29A. Where as the part number for 4:10 down is 225SL29B. Even looking at them the Detroit looks offset.

Here's a few pictures

Here you can see that the Detroit has more offset maybe? Anybody an expert on these? The locker came with the axles and I guess I really don't know what it is??

Pull the bearing and stand em up on the table. Run a straight edge across the ring gear surfaces. It should be a large difference if it's the wrong case.

Going to go press the bearings off but I took this picture yesterday. That look pretty far off

So the front is going back together with the open carrier for now.

Both stock axles are pulled. Rear is cleaned up. Waiting in u-bolts and zero rates from ORD

Also since the 14bolt came from the matching K30 of the Dana 60 I'll have to move my spring perches and also shock mounts

Got the 14 housing all shaved down, ordered new perches and some shock tabs from DiY4x

Got it mocked up and set under the truck. What's the best way to determine what pinion angle needs to be??

*also fixed the centerblock situation
