1972 K5 Blazer

Got creative with some random brackets I had laying around.

Also sleeved my front driveshaft to extend its length.

Got most my brake lines ran, ran a little short, need one more piece and then ready to bleed them out

Figired out I needed a 1410 1350 conversion u-joint for the 1150 rear axle. Got a Yukon one of them and driveshaft is bolted up

Sleeved the front driveshaft. Still need to burn it together.

Got a sending unit for Tbi blazer and installed a walbro 255 in it. Still need to make the tank fit. Which is next on my list once my lines and 6an stuff shows up.

Guys that did this tank swap. I have a receiver hitch, moving my rear crossmember back my not be possible. Think the hitch is enough to replace the crossmember if I just take it out? I will be adding one in front of tank for straps

And some parts came.
4” intake elbow and tube
Clutch
Ls6 flywheel bolts
All the LS Mechanical gauge adapters
Emission deletes for LS
Flywheel Sachs nfw1050
3an clutch line
Stupid steering lift arm since I’m to cheap for x-over and a D60

is the hitch supporting the frame as well as the stock crossmember? If so I would just ditch the stock crossmember as you suggested.

Been going at this pretty hard. Had to pull the motor back out to get some broken manifold bolts out of heads. Ended up pulling heads. So now they are are clean and re sealed. Bolted them down with some ARP bolts.

Got a new steering wheel and some goodies at the local u-pull it this morning CF97EF51-17BC-495E-A68A-428F99264F9E.jpeg

Front clip is back on and starting to look like a shitty blazer again

Lookin good. Nice job swapping the filler neck on the tank.
I don’t think I answered a previous question about the crossmember. I cut the rivets out of the last crossmember and bolted it in about 6” back.
Basically it lined up with the rear body support beam above the frame.

I did completely remove the crossmember. Was not able to move it back because of the hitch. The hitch should work fine as my crossmember. Tank is ready to be hung once I get a few fittings.

Slowly checking things off the list. I did drive the truck today. Brakes are pretty iffy. I bled and bled and bled them again. Everything is new, not sure what I missed? Still spoungy

Fighting a misfire on a couple coils. Gona swap some around and do some testing. Excited to go gas it up

I do have windshield and hood for it. May get those on this weekend.

What's the story on the motor, where did you get it etc.?

Local guy does a lot of standalone harness conversions. Got the motor from him along with a converted harness and tuned PCM for $1000. Motor is all stock, just went though and re sealed/ cleaned it up! Few new parts here and there

Got a hood on it. Got it lined up way better than pictured here. All seats are monted. Used some newer tahoe brackets for the rear seat.
Glass is in

Also mounted up the spare

Unfortunately it still runs like crap. Pulling coil codes for 2,7,8 I’ve swapped the computer into my 71 K10 you can see in the background and it does the same to that truck. Thinking something with the tune or a driver is out in the PCM. Sending it in to be retuned h
