1972 OLBLUE Blazer

This may or may not be my longest, most extensive build
Seems like I’ve spent a lot of time on this and not much to show lately. Lots of time adjusting body to get door to open and shut the best I can.
-Got the tail lights in and wired
-Fuel filler neck installed
-engine crossmember and mounts all mounted. (Was just mocked up)
-Did a small rust patch on the windshield header so that I can still mount the weatherstripping and the soft topper. (The header will eventually need replaced)
-Sent my seat brackets as and a few things out for powder coating. Got those back yesterday.

Rear seat all assembled with powder coated parts.

Re sealed and painted the heater box, new heater core, fixed a cable and replaced and lever. Hopefully all good now. Working on getting some engine stuff all buttoned up. Harness should be ready next week. I need to fire this 5.3 up and see what I’m working with (it was supposed to be mock up engine) The 6.0 didn’t make it back from the machine shop unfortunately.

Been scuffing and blending out the “patina” paint job. Used some hydrogen peroxide/Vinegar/Salt to add some surface rust. Hope I don’t regret that when I actually decide to put a paint job on this. More to come. Just part of the process

I had ordered the precision push on door rubbers back in February, after back order waiting they are finally here. This soft topper bolts to the upper windshield header on top of the weatherstripping so I was finally able to install the soft topper. I would still like to find a single wall top but for now this will be great.

Engine harness is finally back from being reworked, should be hearing it run soon :woot:

It moves! Been busy cleaning up all the wiring and checking things off the to do list.
Fluids, brakes, clutch, electric fans, basically all the wiring. It may be a never ending list but this was a huge step in the right direction!
Currently loaded up in the trailer to take it to the exhaust shop.

Full 2.5” dual exhaust with thrush turbos and an H pipe was done by a local guy. Sounds nice an throaty but still pretty quiet for the cruising.

Been divining it around some. Not too far from home yet. Fixing little thing and double checking things everytime. I guess there was some mis communication on what injectors i was running so it needs to be tuned. Dies out under full throttle.

Had a considerable amount of drivetrain movement. Realized I didn’t have my torque mount bolted up. I had assumed I had the wrong pieces. I got that all squared away tonight. Should drive much nicer.

Are you going to put any kind of clear coat on this? That Poppy's Patina wipe on stuff seems like an easy way to add to a "patina" look.

I’m not real sure yet. Didn’t plan on it. I have seen that stuff. Seems like a good way to dress it up a little. Im still messing with the bedsides more, tryinb to get more patina look. IMG_0943.jpeg

Sure feels good to be driving it around. Great job and I’m sure that the pictures don’t really do justicevto the amount of work put in day after day until it’s to this point.

I had been searching for the perfect tailgate since the day I bought this blazer. Finally decided on just putting a new aftermarket on. I’ll match it to the the bedsides eventually. I also a keep messing with the fake patina more I can’t get it where I want it to be. May be about time to start some gap, and paint work IMG_1417.jpeg

Just a current photo. I also replaced the grille with a better shell and new insert
