FKM nis the short form for the fluoroelastomer category according to the American standard ASTM. Viton® is the registered trade mark of DuPont Performance Elastomers. Zrunek uses the designation FPM for all of its fluoro-elastomer materials.

If they are calling it fluoroelastomer, it is not made by Dupont. So it probably comes with it's on covid19.

summit is really slow right now. For some reason everything ships out of Texas instead of Nevada and it’s taken 4-5 days for them to process and ship an order.

Last order I had was the same except it took 2 weeks to ship then 2 days to make it here.

Not sure when that was however the orders I’m referring to are over the last three weeks. One is actually being delivered today. All items said they would ship the next day when the order was placed.

Mine was from February before the lockdown.
When I ordered it said from Reno, next day delivery.
Next day I got the email saying coming from Texas and 3 days delivery, and stayed like this for 2 weeks then got an email it was shipped

I had an order say it was coming from Texas, but ended up coming from Reno instead. I suppose they may be reducing the number of people working in the warehouse.

Specifically on the fluoroelastomer seal, Jegs showed it as coming direct from the manufacturer. I'll bet it's the same for Summit. Jegs is just more optimistic about how long they thing the manufacturer will take to ship it; 5/2 versus 5/22.

Working on getting the timing chain replaced. Hmm, oily.



My engine is a natural black, no painting required.

Is this groove in the balancer supposed to be there?



It almost seems intentional, but I don't see it in any of the pictures of new balancers.

Otherwise it looks good. Rubber is in good condition.

I was suspecting so. I see Summit has repair sleeves. Probably should go that route I suppose.

Speedy sleeve will fix that. Just make sure it goes on good and straight when it starts.

i have found rock auto cheepest on the speedi sleeves .

and i use a thin film of red lock tight before i pop it in place for good .

The loctite used be listed in the directions.

and when i was wrenching for a living i use to save the tin cups for the full float axle spindles . they fit a axle nut socket in them good for our style fronts or full float rears . keeps the oil or grease from getting all over the box drawer .

I used to have some of the Loctite green stuff for applications like the sleeve, hopefully I can find it and it's not dried up.

This is why the timing chain is getting replaced. Mmmm crunchy



As I expected would happen; that's what came out of the oil pump pickup.

This is not very encouraging...



That stuff was in the oil pan. Not sure what that's from. Wondering if it's the timing chain itself?

In all seriousness what was your oil pressure like .if it was fine I’d put it back together and not worry.

I am debating a 5.3L, especially if it came with a 2wd 4l60e.

Oil pressure is good; been real happy with the pressures I see at idle and higher RPM. I replaced the rear main and the bearing looks better than the last time I did a main seal on another motor.



I agree tho, just gonna run it.
