1974 K10 Dirty Sancho

Saved from cruel and unusual punishment
Found a pair of axles on bookface from a early to mid 70's K5. Appears to be a Dana44/12B combo with flat top knuckles, lockouts and 4.10's. I'll need to break these down for an inspection/rebuild and paint. The knuckle will be drilled for crossover (WFO) since I have a 2wd box and a brace/repair kit from ORD ready to go.

I have some spare Dana 60 shafts :D

I’m thinking about picking up some tuff country springs for the front. The rear will have the ORD 4” flip with the beefy shackles and 56” HD springs off the C10. Should I go with HD or EZ rides? I’m leaning toward the HD in case I get a phat block but I have no personal experience with the springs. Thoughts?
 
Will you be putting a custom bumper and winch on it as well? So even if you don't go big block you may have more weight up there?

Would you consider going LS since you already have a capable off road rig with a BBC? Something that sips the fuel a little more lightly? Your Tahoe (if I recall) might donate an engine to this at some point.

260 joint and a 297
Pretty sure the flat tops got the small bearing spindle which had the smaller shafts and ujoints, unless someone changed them at some point.
But if the truck is not going rock crawling it will be fine
 
Ordered a bunch or parts for the axles including calipers, rotors, studs, drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, all new drum hardware, ball joints, diff gaskets etc.

Received some parts from ORD, painted those, blasted some others and painted them too. Also spent a few hours on the frame with a friend, got that stripped and most of it primed. Need to pull the frame into the shop so I can weld the steering box reinforcement.
