1975 C30 Scottsdale “The Ugly Buffalo”- Out to pasture.

I have no idea yet lol
Does it have good contact with the distributor? Good ground through everything? Loose terminals?
So I checked all the connections and even went the length of warranting out the recent replacement module. Still no spark. So I grabbed the coil from my green Blazer, and swapped them. Still no spark. I have power to the distributor, what else am I missing?

I did it on the road during Power Tour thinking the mechanical pump was bad after checking everything else. First electric pump was bad out of the box. Bought one just like yours, would not move the truck more than 200 feet. When I got it home, I figured out it was boiling the fuel in the vertical steel line. Put the original fuel line routing back on with the original mechanical pump and the feed line moved. Has been good since then.

Well this one is on me sort of.

Previous owner had that fuel pump wired to a non cranking 12v source. So while trying to start the truck, it cuts fuel off. If you turn the truck on and pump the pedal, it will stumble enough to start after you let off the key.

So at least I can start it and move it off the trailer now.

My little fuel injected '95 Mazda truck was set up that way when I got it. In tank pump wire to a non-cranking source, it would prime when keyed on then cutout while cranking and kinda stumble and get running if you cranked and let off fast enough. Glad you got it running.

Where is factory oil pressure pulled from for the gauge on this? Looks like maybe it’s on the driver’s side of the block behind the manifold?

Mine is a mechanical, w a line at the back of the block by the intake.
Can you unhook the line at the block and see if it squirts while cranking?

Ok so I am working with a couple of issues that keep popping up.

1. After the truck runs for a while and gets up to temp, the key will not actuate the starter. I can jump the starter manually and it starts just find. After it sits and cools off, the key works fine again. Any thoughts?

2. Yesterday afternoon while doing a short run the truck back fired, sputtered then died. I was able to roll into the driveway, but I now have zero spark. Cap and rotor looks fine. New ignition module. Power to the coil. Just not sure what would have just abruptly stopped working like that.

One year at Blazer Bash several people had ignition module failures and I know at least 1 person bought one that was bad out of the box. I would be suspicious of yours.

Starter sounds like heat soak. Might be a sign it's getting worn out.

I forgot to update this.

I found an extra HEI distributor I forgot I had, so I swapped in it. Truck runs and starts really well now.

Hard to tell, but the old distributor was very corroded and most likely wasn’t grounding itself very well.

But it’s reliable enough to start it and move it around.

But in an attempt to better focus myself on projects, I’m actually removing this one from my driveway for a bit. It’s loaded up to head to a buddies shop to be stored inside while I get the other K5’s in better working order.

With the temptation removed, hopefully I can put more time into the green Blazer to have a nice cruiser for the summer.
