1976 C-10 Stepside Shortbox - Beagle's Build

No, it was not. Even worse. The 6.2.

Hmm. Ok, I've heard plenty of anti-6.2 stories. The BBC should kick its tail, power-wise. So that makes at least a little bit of sense (assuming that's what you wanted). The 6.5 is a much closer match to the BBC, so it isn't much of a gain to do that swap.

Congratulations on (formerly) owning one of the few GMT-400 trucks with a 6.2 diesel.
Should be in the '88-'91 year range.

Switching to a carburetor is still a downgrade. :doah:

Lol. I just said that to get a rise out of you...
The truck was blown up when I bought it.

Since this was always a plow truck for me the cold starting problems of the 6.2 didn't appeal to me much.
I also couldn't find a 6.2 the fall I was looking and needed the truck for my plowing business quickly.

I was just going to go small block until I found a cheap running big block. The rest is history.

Naww...I'm not gonna get a rise out of that. if you want a rise, you should have told Martin that you yanked a Detroit Diesel out of there, that you were "upgrading" to carburetor technology, and that you were tossing the stock rims to install aluminum ghetto spinners. Which you were going to paint black. :pimp: :haha:

Right, @82355?

I figured there was some back story like this. Simple, clear....BORING.

The BBC Stepper should be funner.

Oh yeah...the carburetor is still a downgrade. :pimp:
At least you're coming from a carb to another carb rather than throwing a good injection system away.

I think this should be one of my mottos. Many aspects of my builds are defined by circumstantial decisions. It's pretty much an accident that I wound up with a truck at all (wasn't on my list of things to play with). Being a 6.2 meant approximately zero to me at the time. It's now a step-side because that was the least rusty sheet metal that I could find. Looking at the other trucks, the 8-lug axles entered the picture because they were cheaper than 1/2-ton replacements. Same for the wheels & tires I'm running (takeoffs, all of them at this point). I'm now installing an NV4500 because it was cheaper than rebuilding an automatic. I went with a CUCV (vs. a regular blazer) because it was available and cheap. I'm pretty much playing with things as they become available. It has lead to some interesting stories. :thumb:

Nope.
Stepper is getting injected.

Dude you are seriously building a dream truck of mine. Buddy had a 75 stepper with a big block same time as I had my 78 shorty with a 400. Always loved his truck

I am not going to divulge alot of details of my plan. But if it comes up I might say little.... In fact, it was before Xmas when I pulled out the ol rusty out if the shed in those pics. But parts have been showing up alot lately. I actually started collecting stuff before I left Denver.

So what year is that BB and what's going on it for injection.... Trans? Rear end? Lol! :dunno::haha::popcorn:

Great question!! I don't know... Its a mystery motor! When I bought it, the seller didn't know. Never cared enough to run the numbers. It was just a plow truck.

Haven't sorted out the Trans yet.

And I may or may not have found a 9"... Depends on if I need it.
12 bolts will hold 500hp....just saying....
