1976 C-10 Stepside Shortbox - Beagle's Build

You'll have to fill the bed with lead before you put a procharger on it lol. Otherwise you'll need a new set of tires after every stop sign
:burnout:

Hmm... 600 hp 600 tq was always my main goal. With the 650/650 was in the back of my mind. But now I think maybe I should just add some forged piston, and some head studs, leave the ring gaps a little loose... Just in case I need a little 7-9psi bump....
Is this before or after we race?

Dayum. I was thinking about boooost all day now. I guess I underestimated how much supercharger it would actually need. Granted I could probably get away with a little less.
But if it actually makes 600hp that puts me F-2 category.

That's what the mechanic on my shift is putting on his 73 Nova right now. He says there's something else that can be done later if wanted that'll bump it up to almost 2000hp.

an F2?! That's getting rowdy. You going big tire?
As big as I can fit under the stepside. Trucks are just to heavy to really race hard. A F2 isn't set in stone, and would definitely be a while out. But I still have flexibility since the engine isn't done yet. So I'm going to put some head studs in and some forged pistons. And some boost rings. Hehe.

Just seal the hell out of those studs. I gave up on them and went back to bolts.

Headers meant for a '68-up Nova fit the trucks very well. They tuck better and a popular application like that should get you some better pickins in stainless.

What was the deal?

I probably don't need them if I am only pushing 9psi.. but 9 turns into 10 and 10 turns in to 14..... Etc,etc...

Here's the Nova/Hedman's installed on my big block C10:

I just recently installed an old, unknown brand (cheapies) of headers on my BB C20, also meant for a Nova. The fit was very similar to these.

Thanks, exactly the information I was looking for as the Hedman Elite headers for a big block C10 are $900

The only clearance issues I had were very minor. One little sliver needed cut off the left clamshell mount (from the original small block) and I had to tweak the arm a bit on my column shift linkage, for pipe clearance (3" duals). Neither of those needed done on my C20 Burb, although it was a BB from the start and the pipes are only 2.5 inch.

Well the column shift will be gone, and I was actually thinking about dumping the clam shell mounts for the ORD heavy duty engine mounts.

Hedman headers are really nice. My buddy has some on his '78 K20 with a 496. The engine builder spec'd them. 2 1/8" primaries. Had to clearance the frame. They were one of the few I think with 3/8" flanges that would seal. His are just the Jet Hot coated ones.

Was 50 degrees today, decided to get the stepper out... Found my battery drain....

With key out, everything is on, as in the key was set back to acc... So yeah I hadn't noticed that under the car cover....

Forkin' annoying. I did order a complete ez wiring kit for it, but really wasn't planning on doing that until the big block went in. Which is going to be after the chevelle is running/driving...so maybe mid summer...
Of 2020... Lol.... Probably more like 2021!
