1977 c20 (I should buy it)

I read it as converting a 67-72 truck, not a 77. I have a 75 K20 frame
Yeah, I'm getting ahead of myself as usual. I think c20 is nice looking and affordable. Sure , a K20 would be ideal but for the price the c20 seems a good enough deal. 2wd long beds aren't really all that "cool" by bro standards but it's a 77', cool color and would be a nice niche grandpa truck for shows and cruising.

My Dad had a 74' c20 camper special, I learned to drive on that and an 1980ish gmc longbed. I kind want a longbed

But doing an axle swap, maybe but not yet, anyway.

You took the last correction well, so I’ll just toss out that the apostrophe goes before the two numbers, not after when shortening a year. The apostrophe is replacing the missing numbers. So ‘74 is 1974, and 74’ is seventy-four feet.

As for the truck itself, it seems pricey to me for a C20, but these things are getting stupid expensive.

Ten years ago I would have said that $500 was top dollar for that rig.

The funny thing about Camper Special is that it required higher load rated tires. So for several years you could get a C20 or K20 with the wider factory wheels (they were specified with certain tire sizes), but you could NOT get those wider wheels with a C20 or K20 Camper Special, because the tires that specified the wider wheels had lower weight ratings, and were restricted.

Hence calling the wide factory wheels “Camper Special wheels” is stupid.

I tend to agree. I think the main reason for the higher price, is it being a '77 with that 1 year only trim and the interior is nice plus a newer crate 350...

I offered him 4 and he turned me down and another guy who offers the same. He knows when the snow birds flock out here they will pay good $ and usually pay more for a running little to no rust truck and he'll it get. These same snow birds then oddly expect cheaper prices than us locals get from him for parts.

Also, while 10 years ago this truck was $500. They are now obviously 10 years older, more years on them and being harder to find decent ones that aren't beat to shizzz or rusted out. Infinitely more popular now as GenX that grew up driving these trucks now want them. Squares are to GenX what the muscle cars and earlier were to boomers, generally speaking. While no revelation just stating this for the record.

Yes $5k is arguably high, but it ain't a c10 shorty price or non gold trim year longbed c20 or otherwise. Not even close to 67-72's ridiculous prices.

Squares are on their way, but longbeds get hate no matter what generation. For a '77 it seems fair in price

Nice truck the way it is but… a 4x4 frame a trans and t case a trans tunnel a driveshaft or two and epic!

You can do it!

I swapped mine from a c10 to a K 20
Skunked did a super nice job swapping his!
