1977 Silverado Crew Cab.

Yea that's where the camper tie down points pass through. That one was seized up good so we couldn't get it out. We decided I would just take it with me so I could cut it off with the cut off wheel at home. Somewhat ironically, I think I might be able to replace that small rusted bit on the new side and patch those tie down holes with the old bedside...

Not sure of I posted this video before but this is a fun one of the products I'll be using. The ospho rust treatment, SPI epoxy primer, and rage gold filler. This guy does several tests and torture tests and the results are pretty wild.

Dude, you are my hero. Really awesome work you are doing.

Thanks guys! But let's hold back on any hero talk for me! We got some truck heros on this site but I don't think I'm one! Guys like ryoken, greg72, dueling, chief Brody, norcal69, kidJethro and several others that I'm forgetting. Those guys are the heros of the truck world. Honestly if I added up the time I have into the truck so far it's probably equivalent to one full weekend. And not counting the cost of the truck I'm into it about $500 so far. By the time I do an engine swap, 4x4 swap, tires and interior work I'm sure I'll end up with around $8k. Some people have put 100x the amount of time and some (looking at you greg) are already into their stuff nearly 10x the money! I'm just trying to do something that's on the limits of what I can achieve with respect to time and money.

In other words, there are lots of dudes on here that deserve the title of hero before me!

Well today I got the bed all bolted/welded on. About as soon as I was done with that my wife, who had been rafting on the river with her friend, called me and said one of their cars needed a jump... So I had to boogie out and do that. The bright side is it was a great day for a nice little cruise in the burb down to the river. So good and bad I guess. Tomorrow I should be able to get the new bedside sanded and start pulling the dents and fixing it up. Considering taking Monday off work (since I'm working both days this weekend...) to get my garage converted into a paint both. If all goes well I'll lay some primer by next weekend. Wish me luck!

Of course, best of luck dude. I'm really anxious to see how this turns out!

As for the hero thing, yeah, there are guys here that do amazing stuff. Fabricating artwork. I do love those threads.

But I have been that guy, in a house, with a garage (before the divorce). What you are tackling is very cool to me. Stripping the paint off an entire crew cab, replacing a bed side, and painting the whole thing.

I can relate to it, and really dig it. So far, very impressive.

Well it's settled. I worked both days this weekend do I got basically nothing done. So I'm taking tomorrow off work to make some headway! HOPEFULLY by the end of the day tomorrow it will be ready to prime. We'll see.

Played in the garage a little today after work. Got the garage straightened up a bit, welded up some screw holes and such, and pulled the bumpers.
