1977 Silverado Crew Cab.

I dicked around with my compressor for a bit today and confirmed my suspension that my fittings were miss matched and not allowing enough flow. Long story short I put different fittings on and all is well! Gun hold perfect pressure, da works nicely, and almost most importantly, my little sand blast gun works good! That will make things nice!

So my new stripping discs are supposed to be here Wednesday. There is a possibility that I will get a few hours in Wednesday after work but we'll see. Also anxious to see if work is going to have us come in this weekend or not! If they do, I'll have a bunch more money for paint and supplies, but if they don't, I'll have a bunch more time!

So glad to know that your suspension has been confirmed! :pimp:

:haha:

Went out and put on another hour and a half or so today.

Here is my dust pile so far.

Also found more bondo in this door so I'm deciding if I should use it or my other perfect one.

I have mostly good trim. Need a couple new pieces.

Also I will be doing further disassembly. I was just anxious to get to stripping! I'll still pull the tail lights, lock cylinders, door handles, etc.

Fair enough... shouldn't do short cuts though...When I do it always bites me! :doah:

You are going after it! I want to start mine, but it's just too bloody hot here, I'll probably have to wait until fall at this point.

Keep up the good work!

Another vote for use the good doors unless that's thin bondo. Those usually end up being really thick in at least one part

Yea I'm thinking new door. Why not. Phil, it's funny because I'm on a bit of a time crunch because I need to get my paint on before fall because it will be too cold!

When i bought my paint, I bought the slowest activator, supposed to be good for 95 degrees or so. It hasn't been anywhere near as low as 95 degrees. :D

That would be difficult to work around!

Going to be spending a small chunk of change today and again next pay day.

Today I'll be ordering;

Gallon of epoxy with a gallon of activator,
Solvent based wax and grease remover,
Waterborne wax and grease remover,
Gallon of Rage gold filler,
Gallon of duraglass filler,

Still trying to track down a bedside. Also need to buy some lights so I have proper lighting in the garage as well as some misc stuff like plastic, masking tape, respirator, tack rags, etc.

I'm now figuring I'll have between $1200-$1500 into this paint job with all the misc stuff included like stripping discs and so on. But I am using better materials than I probably really need to.

I should have changed both doors on mine, they got a good bit of mud in them. Oh well.

I agree change the doors if you have them.

Don't forget the denatured alcohol. I always used that as the final wipedown before any coat of primer or paint. That grease solvent will leave stuff on there and cause you primer or paint to crinkle or fisheye...can't remember which

I've taught him well... sniffle...

oh, it's fisheye.. ;)

I should be ok with the epoxy and the waterborn wax and grease remover. I have done EXTENSIVE and i mean CRAZY amounts of research and it seems i will be ok.

There is a great deal of info on the products i'll be using on the spi website/forums.

And here is an overly lengthy video on the epoxy being torture tested.
