Ok so I think at this point everything forward of the bed is about 90% prime ready. Mostly I just need to pull it back outside and give it a good bath, blow dry, and go over it once more with 180 grit on the da once more. Tomorrow I'll give the front end a good nother once over. Then I'll work on patching up and finishing up the bed.

Worked on patching up the new bed side today. Got both the holes patched. Turned out pretty dece.

Patch work is all done on the bed. I wish it would have came out better but it's ok for my first go at it. It will look fine and last forever with a little filler on it! Other than that it's looking like next week some time I'll be priming. I'm down to just finding little stuff to do and walking around it trying to find more pre prime stuff that needs done. Fingers crossed that by the end of the weekend (I'm also working both days this weekend...) it will be totally prime ready. Basically all I need to do is push it back outside, wash it real good, and then go over the whole thing again with 80 grit on the da. After that I still just need to plastic off the garage to form a spray booth and pick up a bunch of lights.

good job... are you gonna finish stripping that? having that many featheredged "inches" is asking for a cringe...

If that's the case, yes. I'll go ahead and strip it the rest of the way.

every cut, fresh edge, is a potential for it, seen it many times... what happens is the solvent in the freshly applied primer will eat into them and cringe the old stuff... especially if any of the substrates are lacquer... and I'd put good money on that gray layer being gray lacquer primer...

also if the edges aren't nice and gradual, they can show thru your primer.. requiring more primer blocking, etc to get flat for paint...

Well it's ready for primer finally! Just have to still convert my garage to a spray booth and give it a rub down with some wax and grease remover. Should be able to pull the trigger early next week!
