1979 K-10 Stepside Shortbox - Beagle's Build -

So I needed to finish the canyon build. So I did. Here she is today.

The canyon is actually my wife's. She says I ruined it with the big tires. So it has turned into our expo rig. Last year she went 3,300 miles in 10 days, camping out of the back the whole way. Performed perfectly.

I don't think I ever posted a pic with the tent deployed on the canyon.

This one?

There is a thread with two trip reports in it. You were a heavy post contributor in it. Even bitching about how I reserved the postings for edits as I went along. LOL

Alas the canyon is gone now though.

Yep, that's the thread I remember. :haha: Not sure which other rig I'm confusing it with. Are you going to be doing that sort of trip again?

That's my plan as well. Mild trails and back country camping.

Mine was originally black, the paint scheme is cool looking but shitty. It's a 10 footer. But yeah old school all the way. Old rigs don't look right with modern rims etc.

Oh yeah for sure, once overlanding is in your blood it's hard to get out.
I will do some local stuff with this truck but with a 500hp small block I doubt driving it to southern Utah or the Pacific coast is really in its future. Maybe bigger trips once I get overdrive.
Maybe 2017 UP run?
I would be down for that if it's finished.

Outside of that, I have been hunting for a suburban for my long term overland/road trip vehicle.

Yeah trying to match an older look with newer technology, and add function. With some off road, overlanding/ camping flare.
Hopefully my plan works...

Cool stuff, I didn't realize your goals were so close to mine. Yeah, the U.P. is probably the best overlanding country that's close by. You'd be fine on the CK5 Yooper run. I made it through fine, that sets the bar pretty low. :haha:

You can also head up there any time you have a weekend off. It's...4?...hours North to the MI border for you? Maybe 5. But quite doable. And if you plan ahead there are some other CK5 guys that have floated that idea before. We could get a group run going if folks are interested.

Probably pretty close, outside of more horsepower, bigger tires, more lights then I really need, and an exhaust that will probably be way to loud....

heres an idea. Run Flomaster 50 series with a set of cutouts right in front of the mufflers...

My plan is a colorado trip with mine. Its gonna be awhile before its ready though.

Funny I started back on this truck for a mountain vehicle in Colorado. Now that I moved out of state, that's just about the last place I think of when I think about camping trips.

Been there done that.
Colorado is amazing and awesome, but after 7 years it doesn't bother me to explore elsewhere.

I was stationed at FT Carson and due to my units op-tempo didn't have much chance to explore as much as I would have liked. I've got a 6 yr old stepson that loves 4 wheeling and camping and I miss the Rockies. I was born in Idaho.

Well we left when I was three but went to visit moms family a lot is Salmon and Idaho falls. I'd love to retire there but the wife freezes at anything below 45

Me and my wife will most likely retire there.

Washington or Oregon are on that list to. It's a three way tie, we are going to spend some more time in each place to see.
But right now we like the upper panhandle and around Boise.

Not really sure where we would go In Oregon or Washington yet.

Finally got off my duff and placed my order with Inline Tube, just wanted to make a quick review/note.
I talked with Chuck over there and he was super helpful with my order. Ordered up the stainless kit along with a new proportioning valve I'll need for the rear disk brakes I have in the back. FYI to all: They have the Factory style prop valves that replace the factory ones one the frame. Chuck was every knowledgeable about his products and very helpful. Shipping was 16 bucks, so that was reasonable as well. So far so good.

I just ordered something from inline tube! Never heard of them until I was searching for a clutch fork boot.
