1979 K30 Pile of Hillbilly Crap.

High steer arms on and pulled the cap on my spare 2wd box so I can tap it for hydro assist. Hoping tomorrow after school to cut down my tierod and reinstall it on the high steer.

Pulled the tierod today. Figured out I need to cut 3.3875 out of the tierod to make it work on the high steer. Was going to just cut the end off and rethread but the tap is 65 and noone has one. So I am cutting it in the center somewhere and fitting a piece inside to support it then roset weld it and the center. Tapped the box top and looked for my 3/8 to 1/4 elbows and they are no where to be found. Guess I will need to buy them. Plan on putting on the end cap, top, and driverside spring plate on tomorrow then have my buddy help me with the tie rod (he has a 7/8th drill bit). Friday morning the hydro assist will get finished then still hoping to dyno. Still needs the doors installed. My new steering wheel also came today.

He thinks he is being funny. You have all seen tapped steering box caps and high steer arms.

Nope never have. :D

I just dont know what to do with this drilled and tapped flat tops, they are just sitting here, and I cant seem to figure out the conceptual idea behind them.

found out high steer and 1.5" forward 0 rates make the tie rod and crossover unhappy. Guess I will be keeping the std position tierod with hydro assist for now.

Any suggestions?

Ended up just putting on a stablizer and put the front back the way it was. I did get it dynoed. It was way rich and we leaned it out to 13.9 at peak and 17 at cruise.

Gained 40 hp and about 300 rpms over the old lpg motor. Can't figure out how to link a pdf.

The old motor had peanut head, 204/214 cam, wiend intake and was otherwise stock.
The new motor is a stock genvi with 100,000 miles with a mercury marine cam (39 dollars), edelbrock performer intake, cheap roller rockers.

Both had a impco 425 and 7.8ish compression.

Yeah, it's actually a joke from our local forums. John doesn't like to take pictures, and I like looking at pictures, so I constantly pester him.

Is he trying to be funny again?

It's working!:haha:

40 hp more...how much did the old one have?
Or did I miss that?

About 180 on lpg. Lost alot from the qjet. Still going to try the tunnel ram someday.

this one made 228 hp and 298tq. This is at the wheels. We use .65 for the correction factor. It may be a bit hit or miss but with a heavy tranny, 14 and 39.5s I bet it isn't far off. This would be about 350hp and 458tq in the new engine.
