Mine was merely a small block, but that's how I held them down in high school.

grade 8? You know they may need the extra clamping force.

Bolted on the motor mounts, repainted the valve covers (the parts washer removed all the paint). Need to replace the main seal and bolt the alternator ect to the motor then pull it from the stand and put on the clutch and flywheel and stab it in. I will get a pic with the covers on hanging from the hoist. Hope it will be in tomorrow and maybe running some time this week.

I did want to add that when bolting on my waterpump pulley and spinning it i hard a scrape scrape scrape. I asked the shop owner to come over and listen to it. He said the bearing was out and it was time for a new one even though this one isn't that old. I thought what the heck I am tearing it apart. Well the waterpump impeller was rubbing on the back cover. It was over .100 away from the housing. I pushed it back to the spec I found which is .012ish. Maybe this was part of my cooling problem.

Well it is done except for what I need to do hanging from the hoist (rear main seal, fly wheel, clutch). I tapped my hydro bell housing so the bolts will thread in nice and found the clutch fork ball was shot. GM only part from what I can tell. It will be here thursday. I need to order a master cylinder resevore and hose yet. Hoping to have it in Friday.
