if you make the same as at your last job and do not need to drive as far thats like getting a raise. hurry up and get hired so you can go wheeling. save the long trips for towing the 80 to the trails.

most likely i will drive the 80 to the trails and drive her back if she holds.. if not i got triple a's on her!:p:

some pics.

didnt get much done again, when i got home, it was soo nice outside so i started on the truck fast. sanded inside the frame except for one spot. got to buy wire brush cause wire grinder cant get in, primed inside the frame, took rear driveshaft out, disconnected e brake, and loosen up the bolt for the rear springs. i have made up my mind im gonna put in shackle reverse. heres the pics enjoy!

after i was done working on the frame. i wanted to start the front of the truck.. my finacee was like huhuhunuh. grrr so i had to take a break from the truck.. fire up the grill.. cooked outside.. then after that, had to clean up the mess from other person that lived here before me... finally looks better..

How come the cab is cocked like that? Seems to be leaning to the driver side.

Also I noticed that you don't have a crossmember under the cab mounts. Is that just how the older frames are? Because I have one on my '85 frame.

the cab is cocked like that cause its lifted off the frame on one side and theres no body mount.. am gonna order new ones for them..

As for the cross member i have no clue. i dont think it has on the truck is original, im the 2nd owner. OH yeah my 1977 gmc has one. but its a short bed. so my 1980 is a long bed so the crossmember is moved back. if it was short bed it should be closer to cab. i just remember my 1977 damn i gonna learn how to scan the pic on the computer so i can show everyone my old baby!.. i miss her!

Or just take a pic of the pic :) With today's digital cameras it comes out just as good as scanning if you get the light just right...

1977 gmc.. i miss her!

the best i could get... i miss her so much! should have kept her! traded her for a 1989 trans am:doah: ... thats cause i moved to ohio for work and needed a car to go back n forth to work.. at least the trans am went 140 mph.. the spec on the truck is a straight 6 250,465,205, and half ton rears. 4 inch lift, 3 inch body lift on 33s:o i was in highschool tho! and maybe 2 yrs after that.. man that 250 straight 6 wont die!

now i see that.. wow clean frame:p: yeah my 1977 wasnt the same. i guess older and newer are a lil different but still bolts right up.

looking good! You have to come up and check out the shackle flip on the Road Kill. I love it already, and it hasen't moved yet. LOL If you need anything, let me know. I'm getting more, and more "extra parts".

best time for you to do a shackle flip...you dont have a bed or wires to get in the way..torch thoose rivets off or grind em out...nice being able to stand and do it...wish it had been that easy for me..

Thanks! ;)

I did a whole write up on it in my build thread in my sig. I think it starts about 1/2way down page 10.

And ya I never realized the frames were different like that either... :dunno:

painted the frame..

today i finally painted the frame. not the front part. needs cleaning on drivers side.. the pass side is pretty much done, except for the very front part. now got to drop the cab down that side then lift the drivers side.. heres the pics! what ya guys think?

its too shiny. I say hack off the frame hanging past the shackle hanger, make a flatbed for it. carve up the front fenders and run those tires you bought with no lift. thats a show truck, at least on CK5 it is.

looks good what did you paint it with??

thanks.. not expensive paint. i used the same paint with my 77 gmc truck and it held up for a long time. primer is ACE rust stop. the paint is ACE satin black rust stop. so it should be good for a while. i hope!
