1981 K20

6" lift. 3/4 ton axles.
91, possibly even 90s started the 4L80E I believe, as it got newer, more and more sensors and such are added on, and the 4L80 itself becomes more complicated.

Finding an unhacked harness in the yard could prove to be a trip. Luckily, they split at the fusebox, and you may be able to find 3 or 4 trucks with enough uncut harnesses to make 1.

My mistake, I didnt add the E on the end the second time. Sorry for confusion. What I meant was as they got newer, they got 2 speed sensors for example. My wiring harness (1991 2500HD) only has one tranny speed sensor, and one t-case speed sensor. Newer ones have 2 tranny speed sensors to detect turbine slip and clutch slip and who knows what else along with a t-case sensor.

Working on the hydro install.
Yesterday worked on pulling the pump and what not. Realized had to pull the bumper and winch to get in to reach the upper bolt on the steering box.
So got that done today. Pulled the old (brand new replacement) 2wd box and got the new psc box installed along with the ord steering brace. Gonna keep that 2wd box for a later build.
Tomoro I plan to work on getting the pump setup and hopefully getting the pulley swapped over.

Love being a dealer for amsoil. Pretty decent discount for me.
I'm pretty sure I ordered too much tho. Hopefully I can get by with just using one box and then sell the rest. I don't want to keep 12 pints just hanging out for eternity.

Steering box bolts suck so bad. 14 swivels, 12 extensions, and its still sucks on that one bolt. Blasted GM.

I want that PSC kit so bad.
I'm stoked I have high hopes for it.

Yup. The best thing I've found is the wobble head impact sockets and an extension on the air gun.

So today on lunch I got the winch bumper back on and secure. But that's all I got done because after work took a ride and bought this

Nice sub! :thumb:

And nice parts for the other one too!

Nice burb!

Thanks. I'm loving it. Already done a few things to it.

Also making a little headway on my hydro assist.
Read In petersons on their yellow truck rebuild they mounted the reservoir to the core support. Decided to do similar. Welded some angle iron drilled and tapped and bobs your uncle. Should be close and above enough where gravity should take over and keep me good to go.
Tomorrows work shall be working on the cooler mounting and running the lines.

For my cooler mounted on passenger side. Opposite the trans cooler

And got the ram and lines mounted up tonight
Diff cover is from DIY. Added ram mount and drain plug. Plated it at my work
Used a lube locker from poly perf. That's a bout it for the new parts going on right now. Few others showed up but ill get to them when I put them on. Gonna work on the bleeding tomoro

Only thing I've found sucky about mounting the ram to the diff cover is it causes it to leak. The stress has caused mine to leak. Pull off, re-seal, put back on. Stops leaking for a while, then comes back again. It's not too bad.

We will see how that goes. I'm hoping with the lube locker and not rtv it will work out

My DIY4X diff cover with the ram mount has yet to leak. EVERY thing else on my Dana 60 leaks, but not the diff cover.

Sweet. I wasn't too too worried about it but worse case ill keep an eye on it for a bit.

Anyway had the wife help with bleeding out the hydro assist.

Works flipping great as it should. One finger turning parked on the driveway. One problem I have is when I welded the tabs to the tie rod I had them flipped the wrong way. They have an offset bout 1-2" do now most of steering is to the left and hardly any to the right. I could just cut and grind and weld on a new pair. But I think since I need new tie rod ends anyway ill spring for a new beefy tie rod setup

If you welded the ram on with a neutral shaft position so it stokes evenly both ways and you aren't getting equal steering in both directions BE CAREFUL. You're bottoming out the cylinder one direction and in the other you're hitting your steering stops (or something else). You could snap stuff.

I'm sure you realize that, just throwing it out there.

That's not what it is. I actually kept a close eye on the steering stops to make sure of that. Nope I'm 100% positive it's the ram mounts because the ram is bottomed out with the tire barely past the fender to the right and will turn way the past out to the left. I just need to recenter it and make sure it's correct.
I was rushing the first time to try and get it done to go wheeling on Saturday so the hydro wasnt even hooked up and made a slip. Now I can cycle the ram back and forth and do proper measurements and get it dead set.

So I got a new tie rod from WFO. Got it all the right length, measure and put on the hydro mounts. And now it's perfect. I have almost exactly 4 1/8" of steering each direction.
Have some hefty trimming that needs done.

Anyway drove it to work to play with the forklift with cucvfreek tonight

Doesn't really flex much. I was hoping to avoid doing the shackle flip and putting on my deavers til after the frst wheeling trip. But I think with the 39s I'm gonna need the help in the clearance department.
Also got a set of mufflers so I can ditch the glass packs soon. Those are obnoxious.

This thing has turned out so bitchin.

And you built it soooo quick it seems.
