you should just put a set of stock 56" springs in instead of the 52's It will get you a better shackle angle too.

i dont want to push the axle that far forward. the shackle angle i'm not really worried about because i can tune that with the adjustable spring hanger

if you get them off of an astro van the pin is centered. or if you get them from a 88-91 suburban one side of the springs has 26" to the pin so it would actually shorten your wheelbase by about an inch all while giving you mad flex. if I can find a picture of my truck before i sold it, it had 56" springs on the front and them bitches could flex more than a juiced up bodybuilder.

Stock 56" on driver. Lifted 52" on pass. Gonna finish ye 56s tomoro and hope my shaft is long enough to get it done. Got my steering link and shock hooked back up on the left. You can see my steering box is already peeing itself in anticipation

So. Made a new problem.
Got the new springs on. Too low. Too long.

Lowest the truck has been since I've had it. I like the low stance looks tough with the 38s. But as you can see the shackle angle kills it. Shackle is actually resting on the frame rail. If I'd have known going in I was using 56s I could've moved the front hangar far enough forward. But it was positioned to use 52s so I'm hosered again

or try and find a set of dodge dakota rear spring iirc are 54" long

id like to throw a set of 52s on it and be done with it. but dont feel like going to buy some for $100 from pick n pull.
going to try switching the 3/4 ton tall leaf pack from the rear with the 1/2 ton pack that i put up front. difference of 3 leaves + Overload compared with 6 leaves + overload.

i'm hoping the swap will get me a lower ass, along with raising the front enough to give me kinda compression travel, i think if i can net an up travel of 2-3", i'll bump stop it there, and leave the rest as droop. i could dig that cuz i'm really digging this super low on 38.5s" look right now.

Welp. Did that. Bupkis. Did help to lower the ass a few inches so that's nice. But the front was only a moderate change. Now at static height there is about a 1/4" between the leaf eye and the frame rails.

Back to the same point. Need to either sack up. Chop the body mounts and move the swing hangar back 2-3". Or wait til I get paid at some point and go find me some 52s. Not gonna make it wheeling this weekend. But looks like I'm gonna ride down with a buddy and just hang out

Looks like the truck is hiking a leg....maybe the steering box was jealous..:dunno::D

scout has a vortec 350 on propane. 60s locked on 43s with fully hydro
bronco is a 70 with a 347efi. on 41s.

overall i loved it, but it tied in with some conversations i've been having over the past few weeks. basically i want to get away (not like i ever wheeled the terd) from more aggresive wheeling with a tow rig, and get something that can be driven to the trail, to lowe's, to dinner, and to go camping.

most of this came about because i'm selling my cars, blazer included. so i refocused on where i want to end up. idealy something that can fit the wife & i with our mongrel heard, go up to the hills over the weekend and not be in the hustle and bustle.
anyway i had a list of vehicles that i was looking for, most of which was a mid to late 90s ext cab chevy or suburban.
prefer the 6.5 but would be happy with the vortec 5.7

while selling my buddy the 2wd steering gear, tells me at his work is this parked 99 6.5 ext cab short bed 4x4 truck with a flat bed on it. been parked for a while due to the injection pump going out.

says if he can get it, we can trade the terd for the truck. perfect. so right now i'm just waiting to see if his company will sell it to him instead of making it go thru auction like they normally do.
this whole time the terd has been for sale and has gone nowhere. maybe it was a good thing no one bought it....

time will tell where this story goes i guess.

Looks like the slick rock or strawberry pass. Both are way fun trails.

Slick rock it.
From bay area it's a perfect weekend trip. Took about 3.5 hours towing to get there. Only about 2 hours to run the trail end to end.
So I figure leave town early Saturday. Run trail. Camp fish. Wake up wheel trail and head home and be back home by lunch.
Colby don't judge my pictures too harsh. I was only using my iPhone. There's more pictures in the photobucket account.

Also. Just got the first pics of the potential new truck.

Too bad you sold your d60. Guess it is time for a ford 60 though

Yup. Plan is basically to do as close to UA's white rig as possible.

Eventual plans include hp 60/ shaved 14 bolt.
241 doubler. 3 link front with shackle flip rear.

Mostly I just want a dependable rig that can go where ever I want.
