So I found out I need new valve springs because of the cam...

I might as well get the heads port and polished.:doah:

Yes I agree, depending on the cost will determine if they get ported and polished.

Has anyone had any success doing it at home?

I'm at a loss here, I can't figure out if I want to go with GM factory brackets off my parts suburban or buy new ones from diy4x. It would be a lot cheaper obviously to use the factory brackets, but pulling off the rivets could be a pain.

What do you guys think?

:dunno: Brackets? :dunno:

I decided to use the factory ones. My hands are tired and sore.... These brackets are a PITA to remove with a chisel, punch, hammer, and a grinder.

I suck at these build threads...

got a package today, not much of a update but hey it's something

Finally, I repeat finally got all the brackets off the frame... I never want to look at a rivet again... The part that sucks is I got to remove the ones off my truck for the front SAS. At least on those brackets I don't have to try and preserve them so I will just go ape chit on them.

Expect a decent update in a few weeks. :thumb:

Sas parts painted. :pimp:

looking forward to ripping out the junk ifs in a few weeks.

Slow day at work so I semi polished the valve covers and painted them. Tomorrow I might have the oil pan done.

3 coats of chevy orange paint and 2 coats of clear coat should do the trick I think...

Its lookin good man. Thanks for keeping me up to date on this. I have seen you driving and talking about this truck as long as I have known you (7 years now I think). I cant wait to see this thing completed. It is going to be sweet!

Makes me wish I had the chance to build up my dad's old 1976 Heavy Half. My mom totaled it before I had the chance. Maybe someday I will find another one and resurrect it.

This has been in the making before I owned it, It's hard to believe it's actually happening.

You're welcome on keeping you up to date, this isn't just for everyone else but I'm doing it for myself.
