Trust me it's killing me to, I can't help but look at it every time I go into the garage.

Sense you are wondering about the engine, this is how I plan on painting it.

For the front leafs I'm not sure what I want to go with.

In the rear I have stock half ton leafs with 2 added and re arched. It is close to a 1 ton spring rate if not higher. I want to keep the rear leafs and shackle flip it. For the front should I somewhat try and match the spring rate or run something a little softer? I'm not sure how that would react though, it might create the front end to wonder?

Thanks

A lighter spring rate won't cause the front end to wander. If anything its ride better, but the lighter the spring the more potential for body roll and sag later on. I'd go with a set of tuff country ez rides up front. That's what I run and it rides pretty good for leaf springs. I left my sway bar in though to combat the body roll.

The thing is my rears are setup like a one ton wont it be bouncy in the front end and the rear would never move?

If I hit speed bumps at 5 it launches the rear off the ground. :doah:

Still need some help finding a set of suitable lift springs for the front. Here is a picture of the rears

And just for giggles I found some old pics.

Yes doors seems to be a frequent replacement on this truck...

Well my painter guy fell off the face of the earth and looks like he wont be painting it now.:doah: Oh well, it still is going to get painted just will cost more money...

I picked up some DIY4x parts and should be putting this thing together in 3 weeks.

I also renamed this thread to better suit the overall build of the truck.:haha:

I'm working on it trust me, I hope to have this thing running and driving by november 17th which is my birthday.

Got some diy4x parts today from a fellow ck5 member.

hope this helps

2wd front hangers for rear springs are 3" shorter than true 4wd hangers.

so if converting 2wd to 4wd keep this in mind on the rear suspension lift plans.

Subscribed! This ought to be fun!

Oh I can't wait to start it's driving me nuts walking by it everyday.

hope this helps

Yes I have heard that before, when I still had my parts suburban I measured them and it seemed the same.

I think I took my measurement from the bottom of the frame rail to the bottom of the bracket. Maybe the spring location on the bracket is 3 inches lower?

You can get those front hangers new from GM for relatively cheap I believe. That is what a kid on here from Lincoln (NE) did. His were rotted out.

I will have to keep that in mind especially sense I have access to a employee discount.

I couldn't take it anymore... The build officially started, what better day to start on Americas birthday on a old piece of American iron.:woot:

Yes that is a alignment shim falling out, it's so worn out it spits shims.

you don't usually see an '82 getting a SAS...... most people prefer to swap axles under trucks that never came with an axle from the factory, like every truck from 1988+!
