I checked the trans fluid a few days ago and it was fine, guess now it was just enough to notice it now.

Do I get a beer for asking about the tranny level first?

Maybe I will hold out for the Rocky the Flying Squirrel hat pictures

You do, just took time to make a notice on the dipstick. I'm going to try on Sunday to pull it and replace the seal.

At least it's not a 205 that you have to pull

Still a bit of a pain, I'm a little guy. I have to sit Indian style with it on my lap and scoot over. Then pick it up and stab it in.

I wish I had a 241, that would be easier to fix.
My tranny leaks in to my 205, not looking forward to pulling it to fix. I think it is leaking down the splines thru the coupler.

Any tricks to replacing the seal? Or is it just pulling it out and installing the new seal?

I think the 241 weighs 90lbs?

RTV it on the 241 studs, that can make it easier. And I cant remember if its this particular platform that is a huge problem, but the top 9/16 nut for the 241 is a PITA to do without a shortened wrench.

Ok now I'm confusing myself. Is this the out out seal of the trans or the input seal of the t case? Pretty positive it's the input seal on the t case but while googling people are mixing them up.

You need the output seal of the trans. There should not be much fluid between trans and tcase if any at all.

I didnt think the trannys had an output seal. Just the tcase input that when bad will allow the trans to pump fluid into the t case.

I know a 4l80 I worked on recently had one. Maybe the 4l60 is different.

Im pretty positive the 4l60 and 700r4 are pretty identical, and I know 700s do not have an output seal. Also, if the input seal is good on the tcase, why would it ever matter?

Pretty much same trans just electric controls and updated parts.

I'm 90% positive the trans output shaft doesn't have a seal. The seal I bought is doubled lipped like it will do both.

Things I have noticed...

1. I have yet to flex it out, mall crawler ftw....
2. Thinking about adding a half quart to the trans and putting off the input seal to go have fun.
3. 300hp to the ground can smoke 35's into 2nd gear.
4. Wade was right no sway bar is fun but freaks out passengers haha.
5. Beer taste good
