I'm pretty well knowledgeable with these, other then assembling a short block I can work around them.

In a little over a hour with hand tools.

I didn't have the correct socket for the knock sensors or a air hammer for the fan clutch but it's all apart.

3 rod bearings, the crank is damaged and the cam is stuck in the block. He believes a cam bearing went out and caused the rest.

Also said bolts in the short block were not properly torqued.... So much for a good known engine that a friend went through and swore it was good.

I want to cry.:frown1:

With friends like that, who needs enemies?

Does your engine guy credit you the $130 diagnostic fee if you buy one of his $45,000 engines? :deal:

Cam bearings are a very common thing in the LS engines. You really have to look at them when pulling a cam.

Here was supposed to be a known good engine.....

Took about an hour to get the cam out holding the bearings with a few screw drivers.

Yes, so am I.... I even torqued the front accessory bracket down.

Funny thing is this is page 350 what I should have left in it hahaha

To see these pictures again I would blow it up again. Makes it totally worth it.

I got to give my nephew a ride.

I will build it better and stronger again, I will not give up and will fight for more.

Going to weigh my options might purchase a long block through work and just take a bit out of each check.

If I can I'll port and polish my heads, match the valve springs to a cam on a lq9 and make even more power.

Of course 208motorsports will tune it.

Before you do all that let me know. Head porting really isnt needed until you hit mid-high teens in intake duration and 20s in exhaust. Will it help, oh yeah. Is it needed....... Also we normally enlarge the valve when going through that. Step to 2.05 and 1.6. Larger than that is needed when going stroker or very high rpm engine. We have a lot of time and $$$ in the data. The port job is also not super aggressive. Too large and you will lose power down low. Maybe even create a lazy engine no matter the cam.

Yeah I think ls3 heads are a better upgrade.

What's a long block go for out there? I'd build it myself if you have the tools. I know at some point I'll build a 402 stroker. 4 inch bore 4 inch stroker. It's fairly cheap. A new block off summit is $800.
