Pretty cool that it did the trip and got you back. Feels good, huh?
It does, especially going 80-90 mph passing new vehicles loaded down. I'm having to hit the brakes cause it just wants to pull. Only downside is I can't get the transfer case sealed up and it leaks like a siv

I also got to notice the leaf springs are worn out something fierce, the clamps are all broken and they are getting weavy

Do you know where it is leaking? I had one leak badly from the metal elbow of the case vent. It then runs down and makes it appear that the front output or the case half is the problem. Those crappy little elbows are just driven into the aluminum case, and I believe that the oil gets flung at it from the input planetary spinning. There is a small deflector inside, which is so close that you can't tap the hole for pipe threads.

Looking at it, I'm not entirely sure but I think I'll call up ord and get a rebuild kit and pull it completely apart and seal everything new. I have messed with sealing one like 5 times and I'm just going to go for the entire shebang now.

I have the same one. Chased a bad leak for months. Pulled and rebuilt it multiple times. Everything new. Every type of sealant tried. Kept leaking badly. Finally pulled it. Put an air hose on the vent tube and started adding pressure with a regulator. Only took 5 psi to show the leak.

Was leaking at the casting seam on the front cover. Pulled it apart again and welded the seam. Fixed it.

I thought that you had gone all the way through it already. But my memory has failed me before.
:dunno:

The only leak that case had before was from the cracked fill plug bung. As long as you put the other back half on it, that should be good!

I remember that and replaced it. I think I put a new front and rear output and sealed it with right stuff but it's all over the place I can't tell anymore.

In 130 miles doing a averaged speed of 80 it leaked half a quart.

This was the problem with mine. I was able to tap it with a 1/8" NPT tap and thread in a barbed fitting. No more leak

I didn't try putting a tap into the hole to see if I could get it threaded before the tap ran into the deflector inside the case.

Mine is a 208 but didn't think it was any different than a 241. Either way I had to use a wrench to turn the tap a 1/4 turn a time with the case on the ground.
