I just looked at the mileage better and it was 562 miles... I'm scared to see how much I spent on fuel. any guesses?

When driving my older stuff I tend to not think about stuff like that. Just enjoy the ride is my main goal!

562/11mpg = 51 gallons times whatever it is there for premium, is what $3.20? Wait its Cali, so maybe more, I'll guess....$175

I have come to the conclusion that this truck is almost done. It will get some improvements but nothing heavy. The biggest thing will probably be rear suspension.

When the time comes I'll build another truck so this one can live it's legacy on and continue to take me on camping trips, tow the boat and give my nieces and nephews a chance to see Grandpa's truck. Most of all my brother's and sisters can see our child hood going down the road.

Sometimes the hardest thing is knowing when to say enough and not screw something up. I look at where my truck is now. And for what I wanted at the time it’s great, but now I wish I could have it back as it was when I started. But it’s not worth the effort of taking it back apart and undoing everything.

When I do the rear suspension I'll probably drop it down on some 33's and shorter front shocks.

The new truck will start with a 73-87 single cab, think Papa Smurf 4wd with Optimus Prime body mixed in.

Took me a while to think of a reply to this. When the truck was built I bent the frame twice, I was able to correct it once but the 2nd one put a buckle in it. With some creative work I could fix it and the truck still drives straight so I haven't worried about it.

The rear suspension has a wicked lean to it, all the leaf spring clamps are broken and my shackle angle is different. The frame or shock bolt is bent on the driver's side and I'm just afraid if I keep going I'll wreck the frame and have to rebuild the entire truck. It hasn't been together very long has less then 10k miles but it has been ran through the paces and just recently became reliable.

I'm just marveling at the prospect of calling a project complete. I can't imagine ever being done with a truck. Maybe some of it is how you define "done".

I did reach the stage of being bored with the K5. I didn't really have any mods left I could afford and I started to feel like it was a stagnate project.

I have followed all the way on this build. It's been a crazy squirrel filled ride, but a fun one to watch. It's at the point now, to where most of us are enjoying the rides right along with you.

I hope to be there soon with at least 2 of my builds within the next couple of years. You have achieved something that most can not reach.

I reached that "done" point on my blazer some years back. I drove it for several years before I started coming up with new things I wanted to do with it. Now I'm getting ready to start some major modifications again and honestly I'm looking forward to building on it again. I'd kinda gotten bored with it.

I am not like that.
I like to build to enjoy it.
I do like to customize and create things but not on every vehicle I own.
I also prefer working in phases to keep enjoying it instead of seing a pile of parts for years and not be able to use it.
