If you already bought the new one, why do you need to sell the old one first
I currently have the GM original wires in the truck, some of them I will admit are pretty hacked and I just want to start fresh to adapt the Holley to a clean harness. Also the truck being a custom deluxe I want to add a bunch of features that were left out, like power windows and locks.

But can’t you pull it now without it having sold yet?

I'd leave it in, maybe pull the front clip tops. I've swapped cams before with the front clip in but had to tilt the engine since the front core center support was right in the way, thought about just cutting that little piece out, then you only need to pull the radiator. Had to pull the radiator at a minimum. I'd just pull the radiator and maybe the front clip, then you can leave on the heads, exhaust, intake, converter, bellhousing, etc.

If you turn the cam over a couple revolutions after you take the rockers and pushrods out you should be able to swap it with the intake still on, if not you may have to use some TIG rod or a coat hanger to pull a lifter or two up(not out of the bore) to get the cam to slide in. Be gentle and don't force anything, use the sprocket as a handle and try not to damage the cam bearings.

The cam is really going to wake it up when combined with your Terminator X tuning. Program the timing at 28 at WOT for a reasonably safe number. If you have any questions let me know.

You will get that rocks in a coffee can sound you wanted and with that 6 degrees advance built into the cam you will still have a nice torque curve.

I have a few things I would like to fix with the engine out and it would be easier to rewire the entire truck with it out. It really wouldn't take me long at all.

Reason it was cheap, it isn't a cathedral intake and it's square... I took his word for it and didn't look until I was home.

Dart makes a nice as cast rectangular port head that flows with the best of them and is less expensive than the CNC versions, that and some rockers with offset intake pushrods and you would be really cranking out some power. Although then you might want a higher RPM cam and a higher stall converter. It's a slippery slope!
