Picked up the primer today, stuff isn't cheap. :eek1:

Tomorrow I will start stripping down the firewall and cleaning it all up.

Here are the fittings for your fuel lines
These are the ones that you should need for the sending unit.

These are the ones for the filter and motor.

Then pick your fuel line and 6AN hose ends.

I can't thank you enough, that stuff sure picked my brain I don't know why I couldn't figure it out. Doing it that way isn't cheap at all but man does it sure look good and the flexibility makes it worth it.

Thank you very much.

KTM,

Should I strip the firewall down to bare metal or a good scuff work before laying down primer?

Is the existing paint flaking or peeling? If not, 400g paper or a course scotch beige pad. Be sure to get all little corners and hard to reach places. Primer first coat thin.

The paint itself isn't flaking but that black coating stuff is flaking.

Would 220 work? I have a bunch of that for my DA sander.

This is all I got done, I went a bit overboard in some areas and sanded down to bare metal.

That Sems primer comes out extremely good and easy to spray.

Crap! So I'm going to have to sand that all back down sense I put that primer over bare metal areas?

The area primered should be ok. The fender protects it and it won't see daylight. But the rest should has self etching.

Ok, I will have to keep that in mind. I do have some self etch so not a problem.

I blew through the 220 like nothing. I need to stop on the way home and grab something else.

That is a very good point, some areas to knock down that black crap it's going to bare metal. I'm going to try a putty knife to remove it.

Thats what i was thinking. I would think to use the 80 as much as needed to remove the black crap without really trying to go down to bare metal.

the the courser the paper the harder to fill the scratches with primer and paint. = more prep work after the 80.
