truthfully think I'm only about 8 months into this build. I wish I wasn't so slow at this. :doah: Today we had a square body chevy come in and I was so excited to drive it around the lot at work.:haha:

It was a clean looking 2wd, until I opened the hood and it wasn't painted. :pimp:

Just did a simple oil change but I did nit pick it.

I get it to but I don't want to admit it. :haha:

And yes I did get all giggly. :pimp:

I guess the real update today is I did get a bunch of engine gaskets to put it together this weekend.

I'm in the house for lunch, but today has been a all day wrenchathon... Waiting on the welder to show up to fix my mistake for the rear shackles on the front leafs.

I put on new hinges on the passenger side and having trouble lining it up perfectly. I got the main body line just having trouble bringing the door into the cab to sit flush.. Here is some pics

This is after about 45 mins of messing with it.

Here is a video showing how it closes as it looks above.

Also I got the front rear leaf spring hangers rewelded... I goofed the shackle angle way up and the springs were bottoming out on the frame.

These guys were nuts, one was welding and the other was grinding the other side. :haha:

I had to look at that pic of the door for a few seconds before I realized that black hook was only attached to the boat's hull beside the truck and not the truck door. When I first looked at it, it looked like the hook was coming out of the door for some reason. That would be weeeeeird... :eek1:

I know what you mean, does anyone have any recommendations? I sent a pm to ryoken, hoping I get his input.

Also in the last welding pic you can see the 2wd steering box brace.

sorry, been a bit busy... :o

from the pics it looks like you just need to bring the striker in a bit and possible the top hinge.. try the striker first.. and make sure it's tight as balls when done..

if you need to bring the top of the door in after that, loosen all the hinge to door bolts except one on the bottom to act as a pivot, push top in, tighten, yada...

No problem, I completely understand. I originally did the lining up without the striker installed, I will bring it in and do as you suggest. :thumb: Now why didn't I think of using a bolt as a pivot point... Sure is a lot better then the brick and floor jack method I used. :haha:

After you lay it against the first rock, it won't line up anyways.

I hope this never happens.... :deal:

I'm kinda scared to ask, but what is a "piss coat"? :dunno:

Or do I want to know?

it just means a very thin coating... "piss thin"... I've usually used it in here when refering to zinc primer, but it can apply to paints, etc too... with the zinc it usually means that you can still "see thru" some of the areas..

We always used that term when coating bare metal just to keep it from rusting while we get other areas ready. Very necessary when working outside.
