Nope, was born in 87.

Got the shocks for 120, they look great. I'll post a pic when I get home

Here is the shocks comparable to the ones I was going to run in the front.

Is it mandatory the shocks get mounted with a bung or spacer on both sides?

Which style would be better?

For the length of the hoops these shocks are Extended Length of 33.34" Could I measure from my axle mount up and set it that way sense the springs are only 12 inch travel? Or would I need to set the tires and hang the axle off the ground from the springs?

I used the Fox spacers for 1.25" since the 1.5" is so much more expensive. But yes you need them. And the Goat Built tool to hold the spacers is very handy.

Why is there a third shick with poly bushings?

EDIT: Nevermind. That's what you were going to run.

Guess I hadn't noticed the price. :dunno:

But where can I sign up for free bolts? :p

If it were me I'd see if I could find a bolt with an 1.25" shoulder. Cut off the threaded portion so you're not fighting them through the holes.

Didn't accomplish anything today, just wasn't to be. Felt like a monkey tag teaming a football...

Spent 3 and a half hours cutting wood to make up for the springs being taken apart and trying to wrestle the axle into position. I gave up just came in the house was getting irritated between that and the 6 phone calls.

Tomorrow is a new day, got they day off and hope for some progress. Deuling I hope to get the needed information for you.

Would this be max drop even though I don't have the correct weight of tires on? This is a simple question and I don't know :doah: Just not sure if the weight of tires and rims would effect it.

Yes it took me 5 hours to put this in.... For some reason the u bolts I got from ORD are not square.

Ok, some actual work and stuff for you guys to laugh at...:haha:

First I got the axle in then took the steering arm off...

then I decided to start "tack" welding on the axle tube.

That was rather upsetting and I think I goofed up the tab...

Then I started tack welding the hoops together.

I think half on the top half on the side techinque for the hoops is going to be the ticket. It leaves plenty of room around the steering shaft and brake lines. :woot:

Im just wondering if that is far away enough for the shock from the steering shaft. Will the shock hit with some articulation... My shocks are alot bigger in diameter...

Prolly a good think that the welds wont hold though, cuz im sure you are gonna take em off..

Ill throw it up here for review from others even though i just told you on FB.

-Get full droop measurment to frame to axle. (you shouldnt guess at what full droop is, shouldnt ORD have the exact info on what full bump and droop should measure and or look like)

-Get full bump measurment.

- Reassemble springs

- Find ride height measurement from same spot on axle to same spot on axle.

-Take the nitrogen out of your shocks, and decompress them so that they sit where you will have 1" extra on both ends of travel, and mount your hoops and axle tabs around all of that...

(well in my case the fox shocks have 200 psi of nitrogen so i cant compress them by hand...)

Put limit straps and bump stops on mounted in about the same location using all the prior measurements...... Done. :dunno:

With a single leaf that should be static droop. Your axle will travel further than that in articulation though.

You need to jack up one side and let the other side droop.

Do the same on both sides.

Take measurements from the same points on the frame and on the axle. I tend to make marks on the frame and on the axle where I am measuring it from.

Or at least write it down in my notebook. Or on a random board kicking around:doah: dont' do that last one you will lose the board.

Its the same as any suspension, cycle that thing. IMHO its as important for a link suspension. When you are going to be running bumps and and limits straps.

I can tell you that with the shock mounted like that if your wheels have anything more than about 3.5" of backspacing they will rub that shock. My shock is mounted like that and my wheels are about 3.5" and it rubs. Its as close to the steering shaft as it can be too.

Of course I don't remember what size tire you are running, my 42s are 15" wide

By take measurements do you mean from the bottom of the frame or where i want the hoops to start?e from the tube of the axle tube or the shock mount hole? I will be running around a 34x11.50.
