Started prepping the truck for the ORD 4 link kit, I have both axle tubes cleaned of brackets and paint.
I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to support the cab off the frame to knock the rivets off the front mounts. I started to use a 2x6 under a floor jack but when I got to a certain point the cab fell off.
I tried to use two floor jacks at once, but it just got twisted and shifted all over the place.

I hope you don't have to take the cab all the way off. That would suck.
Just up enough to be able to get a grinder in there to knock off the center rivet in the mount. I might take the trans back out and put a 2x6 across the frame. I would like to avoid that, but it sounds like I won't have much choice. I didn't have fun last time putting the trans in.
Has anyone used bed liner for a undercoating? Specifically under the cab? How well does it hold up and did it provide any sound deadening?

Prep is the key again. I've seen it. Are you going to DIY it?
Yes, it would be a diy job. I'm not sure if I want a rubberized undercoating or strictly bed liner. Which ever it is, I would like some sound deadening and the surface to be paint able.
Never tried painting bed liner. Too much petroleum weepage to paint maybe.
This would be a great alternative, hows the rubberized feel? They have both versions, I would like a smooth to the touch finish.

I was looking at the liner extreme stuff. It seemed pretty cool. It was paint able too. And they hadan option for gritty or not gritty. Comes in lots of ccolors.

I didn't watch the video on the sem stuff, but you have to watch out with a lot of the can rubberized under coatings as they never harden and stay gummy.
If they say they are paintable, go for it. Everything you read on the internet is true.

That is my worry, maybe I can get Sherwin Williams to mix me up some more paint with hardener added?
The clear coat is what protects the paint.

I certainly don't have all the answers, but for fun let me toss out an idea I that I plan on using in my future burb build for the cargo area.
There are some liners that can be tinted at the paint Store to get a near color match. I am going to do that, and spray it in the cargo area. Then, I'm going to paint over it using the same paint I will use on the rest of the truck. This way, it will look as good as postcard then if it gets scratched, it wouldn't be so obvious because the liner below the paint is nearly color matched to the paint anyway.

Stepping back to lifting the cab for a minute, just idea but when I swapped cabs on my '99 F150 I had the doors off and used a 4x4 and a engine hoist. I notched the 4x4 and ran it across the door openings and lifted against it withe the boom on the engine hoist. Just a idea if you don't have to lift it to much.
