Easy solution to your problem is get a strip of steel for the underside of the frame. Do plug welds in the holes and grind them smooth. Then do not worry about the bottoms side.

I do have a piece of aluminum I have been using as a backing plate. I have the day off so here shortly I plan on going over.
I'm just weird, I want the back side to look just as good as the front side. Even when I paid to have those holes welded up they guy looked at me weird when I asked to do both sides.

Well after about a hour of looking I have came to the conclusion people do it both ways and I can't find out which way is correct.
When shortening a frame, it's done with a Z cut but patches like rust I saw 4 wheeler mag do 2 foot rectangle piece.

Since it's on the top, I don't think it matters. If you were putting together a whole frame (two pieces), I would say use the square or Z cut, but it this case, I don't think it's neccessary.
I think so to, this wouldn't be such a big deal if the shock hoops didn't land on it or close to it. I want all the frame It can grab onto.

Carry on then. Why don't you wait until you have the hoops in hand to see exactly what you need to add so you don't have to do it twice?
Trying to make due with the time I have to keep on going. I think IF I cut out the bad portion and weld the new portion in and all looks good I won't have to worry about it.

maybe i missed it, but what exactly is wrong with the bad portion? Why cant you just leave it and put a plate under it or above it to just strengthen the area?

Its clobbered up with weld even after grinding.
Junkyard wanted 150 for patch so I guess it's getting left. I did clean it up as good as possible but it isn't how I like doing things.

150 bucks lol, if you are really worried about it, buy some 1/8 or 3/16 steel and weld it underneath the bad spot, done. Move on
or just leave it as is and it will most likely be fine.
I do tend to post my thoughts and look for answers. Frankly I don't know what I'm doing.

I'm just going to run with it and plate the area where the hoop lands. Hopefully it doesn't rip it off.

Not much of a update I know but I did get my tranny jack out from underneath the truck with the transfer case in. Have to do a rear main seal on a exterra and not looking forward to it.

So what's the problem? Grind the bottom side of the frame and clean it up some.

Looks great! But your getting spatter all over your tie rod and drag link! And maybe on your little helper? :giggity :
It looked a lot worse before I started but I may grind a little more on the bottom it's hard to see it.
I know little disappointed in that but oh well at least it will clean up easy. And,
